    Hello all,

I am pleased to announce that we will be moving over to our brand new dedicated server within the week or so (I'll be sure to provide exact dates a bit later on in this post). At the moment, we are currently being hosted on a VPS, and we feel that it's time to take our community to the next level. We're kicking it up a notch!

The specifications of our server are as follows:

    • Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 (2.80GHZ 3MB Cache)
    • 4GB ECC DDR2 RAM
    • 1000GB 7.2k RPM SATAII 16MB Cache HDD
    • 100Mbs Public + Private
Please be aware of the fact that downtime is expected during the migration process. The server will be purchased on this coming Wednesday, July 8, during the evening. We are expecting to migrate over to the new machine on Wednesday, July 15. If the move is delayed, I'll be sure to let you know ahead of time.

We are purchasing this server from WiredTree, our provider of choice, and are expecting an easy transition over. :)

I've learned that, for running a forum at least, speed is largely disk limited. An Atom 330 server with 10k or 15k pair of drives in a hardware RAID 1 configuration is a much more reliable setup.
