Has anyone installed Tweetboard? Did your members like it? Did it get them talking more or do they prefer Twitter?

Installed. Is it used by members? I really can't say that I've seen 'em use it, honestly. I use it to track what's being said to and about tvotb though. Occasionally, I'll use it to tweet something unusual ;)

I cant stand it myself, it may pop out the side but your members are more interested in your forums than Twitter. If the usercp was all in there or it popped out as a notification we would consider it.

I use it only on the homepage and it's just another way to get your Twitter name and messages out there. :)

I think a simple twitter button is sufficient myself, a whole JS board that pops out on click I dont see necessary.

He was merely sharing his experience with the product. :)

Actually, it's a completely different mod. Zachariah didn't realize that the one that I used was already out there.

But, as Chris said, I was just showing it in action (with the actual links to try and help others) and as a demo/example. :)

    other vB Twitter Mods

    Engage Twitter - vBulletin.org Forum

I'm trying to determine what, if any, the difference is b/t these two mods. What I see is that Twitter Profile is for vb3.7.x, but by ArnyVee, seems to work on vb3.8.x.

The Engage Twitter looks more aestically pleasing.

Now, I'm not a "regular" user of Twitter, so sorry if my question seems so elementary (and I didn't want to start a new thread as there are about 3 others), but what are the differences of the these 2 mods?

Also, what Twitter mods would you recommend? The description at vborg just are not explaining to me their purpose, access, etc.

Maybe the easiest question is, what are you using on your board and in what context?

    Thanks

I like tweetboard and was actually one of the first to use it. I have it on my blog and it helps get a decent amount of traffic from Twitter.
I think it's a fantastic application, and really dig the recent updates. (you can change the colors to match your brand as well as adding a source link in the "tweets")

I haven't used it, but I hardly understand the whole point of it. What are its alleged benefits? I'm fully aware of its cons, which are that obtrusiveness and obnoxiousness. :P

threaded conversations are very nice if you use Twitter a lot, building traffic to our websites is also a plus ;)
I don't see why anyone says it's obtrusive, it's a small tab, not as obnoxious as the chat bar you have at the bottom of this forum  (which I do like btw, just using it as an example)
    there are no cons IMO

tweetboard appears to only be from the board admin though?

That tab doesn't suit my needs.

Thanks BS for the input and chiming in.

I actually think it's better suited for blogs, I guess it depends on if the site owner is active on Twitter. If they are, I think they'll get more out of it. If they just use their account for feeds, it might be be as beneficial to them.

and np, I'm just full of BS anyways :p
(ps.. I love my initials :D)

pps.. this is a good example of how Tweetboard can be useful.

This is the discussion about Ray Morgan leaving Jelsoft.

*I don't have the first link because I deleted that post but someone had already replied to me, so it carried on*

Ok, I tried both of the above Profile-type Twitter mods and I like the one that ArnyVee originally put up. It's more polished and has all the basic features (from what I understand). The Engage Twitter does look nice, but lacks the function of the other. Basically, both need to be merged together.

Both only display your tweets. You don't submit them via vB.

lulz, I'm glad you caught the intended pun. :P

yeah, i definitely see the pro aspect of your use. It makes alot of sense for the circles you run in.
