What do you do when you have too many sticky threads in one forum? Do you let them take up the majority of the page or do you create a single "links to important threads" thread and un-stick the others?

After they are outdated, I archive them.

Umm, well I usually not have too much... Usually 2-3 at most, I really hate disorganization.

I've never really had more than six-ish, which I'm fine with. If there were more threads I felt the need to be stuck, I would most likely make the thread with links to important other threads.

When they take up 1/2 a page on 1024X768 resolution, that is too many.

Yeah, that's my point. So what do you do with them all?

Spread them out over different sections that are loosely related to each other - and there is always the "merge thread" button.

Too many stickies is my first indication a forum needs some re-arranging. That is another (large) topic however.

Many stickies are very handy to use in the short term until the broader work on a forum can be done.

Actually there are a few things to talk about.
    1. Keeping track of the good stuff and
    2. leveling out the forums so they make sense
#2 cannot be talked about in depth cause every forum is different, #1 can though.

Maybe I'll start up a thread.

I ran across a new site yesterday that had at least a half page in stickys  This doesn't work for me. I either unstuck out dated stickys or set time limits. If this doesn't work I'll create a section just for stickys.

I rarely have many stickies. But once I get to 3 or 4 stickies in a thread, I unsticky all but the last 2. I figure the point of the stickied thread has gotten across by that time.

4 stickies is the most i will have in a forum. i unsticky all of the out of date ones, like when it was my co-admins birthday and while she was on holiday the week before i put up a sticky for everyone to pm me a message to put in a signed card for her. that was only stickied for a week. then theres the rules, they are permanently stickied in the rules and announcements section. thats where most of the stickies go, but members cant post threads there, so we dont have to sticky them
