I have to say, I literally never visit this page. Does anyone use it?

I think only Google uses it on my forum. It definitely improved my Google ranking :)

When the tags were first implemented in vBulletin, I thought they were so poorly implemented and useless, so I disabled it on my board.

Here though, we have them enabled. I still find them to be "messy" if you will, but I just set up the auto-tag mod and let it do whatever it wants. I'm fairly sure I've seen Google index tag pages before. For example, I've searched a term, "my-term" and some of the results were the tag pages for the term, on vBulletin forums: "Threads tagged with my-term."
So it does have a bit of an SEO benefit, I guess.

I never use it either, but members on my site do since they complained that I didn't have torrent stats output next to the thread names when they used that page.

I do not use it. But I suggest that members looking for information exact use the tags page or do a tags search.

Need a widget to bring tags out of the dark recesses of the corner closet and to show them off properly. I use tags all the time on different blogs that I visit because its quick and easy to search. However vBulletin hides them like old crazy aunt Esther and keeps them away from the viewing public like they are a contagious disease. The only reason that Google is the only visitor to the page is those pesky little bots are the only ones that can find it.

The real setback with tags is that only a few select people actually use them. If nobody is adding tags to threads, then it's useless.

The auto-tag mod isn't enough, either. Adding tags based off of thread titles is inaccurate for the most part.

That's definitely a good way to put it.

Tags in general are very useful and handy. Like you, I use them on blogs all the time. But in vBulletin it's almost like a chore to use and maintain tags. I decided I'm just not going to bother. :P

I also have the tag module in CMPS displayed at the bottom of forum index. Also did some template changes to show the tags in the 'meta keywords'

One of these days I'm going to make a cloud background for my tag cloud page. I think the members will like that.

It'd be much more visually appealing, Michelle. That's for sure.

In stock vB it comes with a tag search option which brings up the tags on one page, is that what you are talking about? Like this?
    AdminAddict Forum - Tags

We use the tags extensively for keeping track of things, only certain people can add tags (yes it is much work).
