teach me SEO :)

i need help being taught SEO..

i want to get better rankings for my blogs.. and i want to start learning.. i cant really read and learn, i need somebody to walk me through..

only things i can do is forum posting and link submissions...

i want to learn how to do:

social bookmarking

press release

do follow commenting

blog commenting

what ever else there is, i want to learn..

 

You need to worry about on-page optimization before you worry about off-page optimization. Even only going on what I know personally it would take quite awhile to "teach you SEO" and though I'm patient I can only work for free for so long.

Start with the meta description and title of your site - short, to the point and only use targeted keywords.

Well to start work on this

Validation of the page to the best you can. A few errors or warnings are okay and won't hurt anything but if you've got 50+ errors you may need some work.

Page structure. Use h1 for title tags, h2 for subtitles, and h3-h5 for anything in between with less importance. Never skip the h1 tag, as its need for correct flow (You don't start counting with 2 do you)

Like kevin said, use the meta descriptions and keywords. Don't over do it, keep your descriptions to under 160 characters, and keywords to under 20.

Write unique and interesting content only. Do not copy and paste others content. Make them interesting and to the point and to the topic/niche of your site.

im still confused :/ i really dont know what any of this is.. i had someone do my meta tags on my main blog..

i know wordpress basics and really dont know how to preform SEO but i know basics..

 

Do you have a google webmaster tools account? That is THE very first place to start. Because everything you do will revolve around what that page says.

If you do not have a google webmaster tools account, your shooting in the dark.

If you're looking to learn it all or even most of it overnight or in one day, you may want to either consider hiring someone to SEO your sites, or realize its not an overnight process and can't be learned or performed in one day's time.

how can i hire someone?

 

vbSEO would take care of a lot of the work you'd need to do on vB, but that won't help you with other pages or getting links, etc.

 

i dont even have a VB forum though..
