Suggestion for postbit

Dunno if it's just me, but when people type a one line reply to a post, it looks like the title of the post.

This is because you don't have the "Re: Subject" line at the top. And also because you have the default odd way vB does sigs, which puts the sig divdeing line right under the last bit of text.

    EXAMPLE

My suggestions to make this look a bit better would be:
    1) Enable the title in every post...this is an admin option somewhere.
    2) Add one of the "force sig to bottom" hacks.

Hope this is useful feedback...it gets me almost every time, I keep thinking those posts are just titles with no text!

Hmmm..not sure it is even the sig dividing line....looks like a table with a border....but it somehow looks "wrong" anyway....if you see what I mean.

Thanks for the feedback, Mark. If others will agree, I may try enabling the automatic post titles for a "test" run to see if the difference is suitable. ;) Opinions, all?

Personally I dont care for it myself and the signature box looks fine to me, I have certainly never had any issues or even thought anything of it.

I don't know how you can mistaken it for the text... I don't like it much, I've never liked the 're:' thing.

In all fairness, the text is relatively (sometimes awkwardly) close to the top of the post frame. :)

Well it could be easily differentiated: The post title is bold, while post text (unless specifically formatted by the user) is not.

We could add a line break immediately before the message context. Do you guys think that would help at all?

I understand that, but the text of the re, in size, is a a bit smaller, 2 pixels smaller.

    Edit: Nick posted before me.

Yeah the line break might help.

:P I think it should be fine now for those who confused it with the "re:" post. If you look at it a bit, kind of looks wierd on some posts.

Well I was trying to be nice, rofl, then try the 're' posts, see if they look better?

I can't seem to find the option that allows it to set the title as just 'Re:'... I can only find the one that adds the thread title as well. See the title of this post for example.
Seeing the thread title repeated with each post is what bugs me. If it was just 'Re:', it would be less annoying...

I really don't like it, as I said, I really don't see how you can confuse the actual post text with the 're:{threadsubject}'.

I'm quite fond of it! :D I wish there were a way to enable/disable this on a per-user basis.

I've always used the "Re:" , so I guess I'm used to it :)

I disagree, just "re" on it's own with no title would be pointless. You get that in emails where people haven't put a title in, so it'd look the thread had NO title at all. Anyway, you can only make it do that with a template edit.

It is often handy half way down a thread to know the thread title.

If, like me, many of the sites you go on DO have the thread title in every post, it almost always has an <hr /> line under it. This is common practice on many boards, which is why having the line there on here gets confusing in single line posts - you omentarily don't realise where the post is because it looks blank.

I mean, really, it's no big issue, if people don't want it it's hardly a deal breaker. It was just an observation.

I guess it's what you're used to, but on here what makes it worse is the line immediately under the post text...it's just too high up. If it was down at the bottom, right above the sig, it would look better.

See, in this post, because my text takes up more space than the height of the left hand "avatar" panel, the line is where it should be...right above my sig.

But in this post the line is right at the top.
