This could be called various things, but I'll start with this.

I'm wondering if there is a mod (v3.8.x) that can be used for Status Tracking, much like maybe a software Bug Report works.

You have a Item, set milestone, have an owner, show progressive status in some way e.g., meter, percentag, etc.

This could be made available firstly to Admins, then Mods, then other users, to be usergroup permission controlled.

Anyone have this in vB already or recommend a useful tool outside of vB?

    Thanks!

Well since it's no longer for sale, and doesn't seem like it's going to be released anytime soon on vB.org.... he's probably looking for something that's available for use right now. :)

    At IBB we use Redmine.

It's top notch, and I would recommend nothing else.

The only downfall is it uses the Ruby on Rails framework.

    Thanks for references here people.

Question about Project Tools, as I do know it's not longer offered, but possible to purchase from someone that has it? Or is it also locked to a license?

Wouldn't it make sense for something like this to be released on the .ORG?

To elaborate a little more on my query here is that, as Admins, there seems to always be a To-Do list. Sometimes they are long standing regardless of the forum script, sometimes they are dependent on the forum script, among other things that drive a To-Do list.

My hope here is to have a sort of To-Do list that is not as comprehensive as true BugTracker. They of course have good controls and such and ppl that are not afraid of another login and the complexities of that environment would be fine. However, may have someone that is less inclined with a true bugtracker technical side of things and has the drive to perform the tasks.

I'm just trying to have a happy medium across these experience levels, while also keeping them within vB, keeping it a central place, obviously.

I hope that made sense and if anyone has something similar in mind on how they handle this. I see how gnatster and Ryan handle it, however, understandably you guys are comfortably in that upper echelon of the technical needs for that.

    Thanks in advance.

Project Tools is supposed to be released on vBulletin.org by IB but they haven't done so yet. I guess it's just a matter of time.

PT is supposed to be released to vB.org, no ETA on that though.

And, as far as I know, Redmine simply requires Ruby On Rails, and installation is similar to that of any PHP script.

I could be wrong, though, I didn't install ours.

For S&Gs, anyone by chance have like a description of PT, like from their package as written by vB and/or SSs?

I don't want to ride the pine for long if I can help it. lol I will check out gnatster and Ryan's input in more detail.

    Thanks!

errr what? I don't understand. I thought it was discontinued so I didn't go look at .com.

Clicking pricing, it takes you to choosing the Suite or the Forums Classic.

Are they not updated to reflect accurately the status of that product?

You mean Nick did what I requested? ;)

You know how sometimes your thoughts just run so much slower than your typing fingers? :speechless:

    Thanks

I've been looking at the PT forums on .COM and related places. Wow, it seems that the add-on is 50/50 on useful. From what I can tell, it would suit my needs completely -- project management tasks.

what I picked up on is that the addon is not truely integrated to vB? That was the sense that I got. If any of you have it here, then I kindly request any useful screenshot of this.

People have indicated release to .ORG. I saw the reply by Wayne about it, however, it didn't leave me the impression that it would be the v3.x version. It seemed like the v4 version...???? Could have been one of my FASTER THOUGHTS moving relative to fingers in this interpretation.

I can't imagine that when it is .ORG released that it would be much different from what was being sold. Too much effort for something that had a small userbase, right?

I looked at Mantis and Redmine. At cursory level, Redmine seemed more appealing to my eyes. That's as far as I have gotten.

    Again, appreciate the input folks!

It's perfectly integrated with vBulletin, 100%. It just looks sloppy on vBulletin.com because they had to botch it in order to work with vB 4.x. What I am unsure of is whether they are going to update it to be compatible and release it on the .org, or if they are going to simply release the latest stable version that only works with 3.8.

I was referring to this part:

That's just the leftover page from the old site that he linked you too, it is discontinued. :)

I use vBTracker PRO. It is on vBCredits.com and can be purchased under paid subscriptions. BEST one available. I would say MUCH better than Project Tools!

No problem. Unfortunately, I can't say I am running it currently as I am using it on my test board for my next update, but from what I have played with, it is completely customizable and honestly the best thing available. Not to mention, Dark and Pixel do a fantastic job with their scripts and Dark gives the best support hands down. I have had issues with other scripts...simple things that I screwed up and he fixed it right away! I can't say enough about them.
