I use the spell checker in FireFox quite a lot, but I've noticed that when posting messages here it doesn't pick-up on spelling mistakes. So I just right-clicked the mouse inside CKEditor to double check if the spell checker was disabled for some odd reason, but I don't even see the option to turn it off or on anymore? So I just headed back to my own vBulletin forum and posted some text to double check things there (spell checker works fine, right-click also shows options to turn it off and on).

For some reason when using CKEditor here, it seems to remove the spell checker option used in FireFox completely. It's as though I don't even have it installed in FireFox. I should point out also that I have no issues using it with TinyMCE on XenForo sites.

It might be worth you sending Matt Mecham a tweet to come and read this, see what he has to say and think about it?

    Version 9.0.1 (latest stable version)

Also just checked plug-in updates and none found. So it's not an incompatibilty issue going on between the offical FireFox spell checker plug-in and FF version being used.

I'm leaning towards this being a CKEditor issue, not IP.Board, but will look into it.

It is a bug in the editor and IPS is aware of it. There is a bug in the tracker and it's marked as fixed in 3.3 beta.

In case you can't tell I hadn't made it to the Tracker at that point yet. :P

I thought it was odd. I seen it this morning.

I also notice that it said fixed in 3.3 beta, but, then Matt replied and said they have to wait for CKE to fix it.

I assumed as much, we don't directly control the editor itself, just the special plugins it uses to integrate properly with IP.Board.

The textarea portion is all CKEditor, therefore out of our control.

I found the fix. Spell checking now work for me. For what ever reason Firefox shuts off the dictionary.

Right click in the editor. Make sure Check Spelling is checked. Then make sure that a language is selected. Spell checking should work again.

It still doesn't work proper. I see what you mean, but you have to switch to "plain editor mode" first to be able to right-click and choose spell checker language for using. But then try typing some text words spelt wrong and you'll see they get highlighted red, but if you right-click to choose a word replacement (but don't actually choose any). You see after that the wrongly spelt words are no longer being highlighted in red anymore, even though you didn't actually replace them with a correctly spelt one. If you get what I mean?

You might have to re-install the language pack in the browser. I had to that

Hmm, on coming back to this forum today, it seems to be working OK now. Maybe the site reload was needed.
