Some things I found

I was browsing around some random things, and I stumbled upon a forum software I've NEVER seen before. Open source, it's called JForum JForum - Powering communities

One thing that strikes the most is that it looks like phpBB in a way, I don't know which version, but I have seen that look on phpBB...

Idk, looks LIKE an older version of phpBB.

Also, I found this very interesting "forum" script.

It's like a software in which you can hold "meetings" online, create a to-do list. A more professional software.

But I just found out their license cost..... Uhh... yeah this software better be GOLD for people to be paying $1,950 to $19,950. For some reason it looks more of a site/blog than a forum.

I also stomped with HaveFnuBB...which I think it was a spelling mistake when they registered the domain.

Indeed - JForum is quite similar to phpBB2, which I find to be a bit odd. It's popularly known as an "alternative", strangely enough... although this is the first time that I've heard of (or about) it.

Indeed. In their feature list, they even mention that the script is "easy to migrate from phpBB" - most likely due to its visual appearance (along with other aspects, coding-wise).

 

interesting how many obscure forum software packages there are!

An online meeting/to-do list package could be very useful, but not at that price...

 

Same thing as I thought...it's.... too pricey..

 

I went to the JForum support forum and found it funny that they weren't even using their own software, but phpBB. And then it turned out that is their own script...

 

LOL!!!! You know how many times I went around it to make sure it wasn't phpBB??? I even googled "powered by Jforum" to see some forums, and in the related searches came up phpBB, so I was more confused!

Relatively new system? I might keep my eyes on this one.

JiveWare, comes across as more of a corporate intranet to me than a forum script. Or, a forum integrated into a site/blog.

 

...it looks like a fork O_o

 

Jive, Fusetalk, Community Server and Lithium are designed as large enterprise solutions. As such they come with enterprise prices. $20K is not a lot for an enterprise solution. The companies that use these solutions are used to paying 100 times that for software like Oracle or SQL Server.

Lithium is a very popular one for larger businesses and corporations. I've seen them on AT&T, Nintendo, Playstation, and Borders, though I'm sure there are plenty more.

 

Yep, I've seen it used on the Best Buy Forum, as well.

 

The format... they all look the same to me! ;~;
