Sidebar close box annoys me

    Is it just me or does anyone else get annoyed by the location of the close button for the sidebar?

    I know it can be 'skinned out' but 99.99% of IPB skins I have seen still have it in the same spot. So I am assuming everyone else likes it? I can't profess to be design guru, but it seems like a lot of wasted white space and it seems to break up the look between the forum list and the blocks. I also wish to god there was a global sidebar. Seems inconsistent when some pages have it (blogs, forum list, portal and some content pages) while others don't.

    Just curious as every time I look it is haunting me. Mocking me. Laughing at me.




    I need to get out more.

    It's mocking me way more than everyone else. My board is Right-to-Left. in default skin it's in the same spot ( relatively!) but in most of other skins it sticks to the right side of page. I mean the sidebar itself it on the left and the close box on the right side . .

    You should try moving it in the code then deal with cross-browser and registered versus guest positioning problems...the whole thing is a major pain and I waste more time than I should trying to work with it when I skin for IPB :(

    The sidebar setup bugs me too.

    I found the optional cleancut skin is much better overall as a stock design though.

    Have you had a look at that skin? :)

    I've had a look and I did like it better, but there are issues on the current blog RC and I like the login/user menu in the top right corner. To me, thats a signature though it isn't horrible inline on the cleancut. Other than that I agree its a much better stock skin - one of the better ones out there.

    same for me, it looks very ugly
    it needs complete redesign and i think they will do something in ipb3.1

    i believe IPB should make it global sidebar, and make it like lil bit wordpress sidebar, i mean;
