Show off corner?

I think it would be a neat idea to have a section where we can show off forum designs or site designs we've done. I know there's a graphics forum, but to jumble up additions, requests and this would be far too messy.

 

Word, I'd very much like a portfolio section

 

That's the word I was looking for, thanks Plazzman. Portfolios would become very useful for the people here who do design work.

Nevermind. I just realized that AdminAddict connect already is a regular forum and not a whole category.

 

Just got another idea: We could give Graphics its own section and have a sub-forum for each of: releases/downloads, requests and show-offs. Is this a better solution?

 

I think that would be the best solution to have it in there own category. So i would go with that instead.

Personally, I think that each designer should upload images to their User Albums to show off their work. That way its contained in their profile and we can easily find all the work that a designer has done. With the commenting feature, they can add links and describe any special techniques done. Could even have a link on the Username dropdown in Postbit that leads to their portfolio.

 

I like this idea but I think albums are commonly missed. If we give designers a special group and usertitle with that drop down, maybe that would be a good solution.

 

I kinda like that idea too, Wayne. It's really up to the designers we have here, so let's see what they'd prefer.

Or, you can get FlickR pro and we can have a site gallery, if there isn't a modification for it compatible with vBulletin.

 

I think there should be a dedicated design area

-Graphics and design Discussion - which you already have
-- Showoff Area (show off designs w.i.p)
-- posting graphics area (resource area for submitting graphic sets, styles)

Something like that, I feel the location of the Graphics & design area is buried in a area (Monetization & Management) not really relevant to graphics/designing etc.

 

I like Shelley's idea, which is similar to what Nick brought up. I'm not loving the user albums thing, people would have to look through individual profiles just to see something.

Yes, the Graphics forum is indeed buried. We tried to condense as much as possible in the beginning, but I think we have enough activity and designers to warrant a section dedicated to graphics.
