    Ok ladies and gentlemen,
Hopefully this will be the final time I need to ask for anything for a while - I have received some great images from the graphic minded people here and hopefully as mentioned this will be the last time I need to come here for a while to ask for anything.

I am creating a forum for a client - and need to get their logo (attached below) created into a vector so I can use it on other things/images.

I have tried to do it by the simple color range stuff on photoshop however in doing it that way it removes the white around the words in the image as well and they are needed to help stand the words out.

If you could do this for me it would be highly appreciated (also is there anyway to get the star isolated I want to make the star into the status icons for old/new posts)

Thank you to all in advance

Never heard of them to be honest, I am not "in the know" when it comes to Graphics haha - everytime I type Vector Images into Google I get all these unrelated websites I will give it a whirl.

Well give it a try; there are other raster-to-vector conversion tools out there, but I believe those two are considered the best. I haven't tried them all though.

I think whomever takes this on. Can create a true vector (no conversion) with the Pen Tool from photoshop. It's not got curved areas so no anchor points need placing (tell a lie) there's the silhouette of the player which is easily crafted out using the pen tool and placing the anchor points where necessary. The rest, is straight edges so anyone experienced with the pen tool can easily create a vector from this image.

I'm assuming the reason for the vector is because the client/whomever wants to re-size the logo and brand it so it doesn't loose quality. Remember, once vectored the test/type won't be editable in the way of changing text/lettering. Pen Tool >> Anchor points >> 30 minutes work.

Looks awesome and I'm sure the quality is way better than any conversion tool could ever generate!

Nice job Fmb. You are correct, whenever dealing with vector and working with them for quality it's simply unrivaled. You are able to re-size at large and smaller scales without any loose in quality. Just a note, If the requester doesn't have the psd he/she and wants to re-size the image then there will be quality loss. You might not notice it much if you re-size minutely but the loss in quality will be there unless you have the retention of the psd and re-size directly from the psd. Same goes for colour changes, you'll get bad colour shifts if you make a colour change from a formatted image such as .png .jpeg .gif .bmp etc because you are making changes on top of multiple layers which are embedded on the same line.

If your planning on using the image elsewhere. Example, merchandise, signatures and other branding projects you'll have to have the psd and directly make modifications from the psd/source file for the highest quality.

Edit: I took a closer look at the image fmb. Are the letters vectored images or type? I'm asking because at a closer look the alignment is off which can be corrected using the points to eliminate the anti-alias look (you'll notice in the screenshot) that the alignments are off and the shift in colour goes from black to a dark grey. I haven't checked the reast of the logo but I was more merely curious whether the text on the image was type or vectored.

They were vectored. A little after I noticed that too. I can fix ASAP if it's a big problem. And if you need the PSD just tell me, Merk.
