If you have an owned vBulletin licence do you pay the renewal fee when the licence expires or do you wait until an new vBulletin version is released?

I always pay the renewal fee, regardless of whether or not a new major release has been made public.

I tend to renew shortly before it expires.

I always renew it right when it expires (or a few days before).

I always try and pay it before it expires unless I forget or am short on cash then I'll pay it after the expiration date. Although, I haven't done that since IB started ganking you for $20 to renew an expired license. I have one client who refuses to renew because of that little $20 and I cannot say that I blame him, it's the same download, same bandwidth it doesn't cost them any more to renew an expired license then it does to renew a current one.

Even though it cost more if you renew it later, I usually do not renew my licenses (plural) until the next major update to the software.

Sometimes it can be months between the major releases of VB. I see no reason to spend my money, then wait 6 - 10 months for a major update. Then have my license expire before the next update.

Show Off! I want your job lol - I pay before it runs out to make sure I am registered for when a new release comes out.

I've let 2 of the 3 expire recently because there haven't been many 'major' releases. So, I've still got some time on this last one, so I'm good for now :)

I wonder how vB is going to handle the transition from license fees renewed each year to fee for upgrade; I'm sure there are plenty of people who renewed and later will have to pay for the next version.
