Have you ever considered re-branding your forum, and re-launching as a new entity? I always wonder if that would be a good idea for forums that had some potential, but flopped after a while.

What about something as simple as just changing the name of an established forum... what do you think the effects would be?

I am planning on doing this by redoing everything on my forum besides changing the name.

You always should be open for options and I think every company should rebrand once a year.
You can rebrand but not change the brand, take the apple logo for example, many versions of the same idea.

Interesting. For any particular reason, or just to "spice" things up?

We had to change our domain name from ultimateteenforums.com to teenforumz.com after around 6 months of being open. This meant a new logo, and pretty much felt like a new identity for the site. It did go very smooth with a 301 redirect from the old to the new and was well worth it as the shorter domain is much better.

    Yep, I've done this.

Closed one site and instead of just shutting it down, I merged it into another similar board that was almost the exact same size.

So, I had twice the members, and twice the content.
