How do you handle members who act as moderators within threads, calling for thread closures, infractions, etc.? Do they get warnings, or is it something you condone?

I do not condone this. If a member has problem and/or request that can be solved by taking a moderator-like action, I'd prefer if they would contact me privately rather than taking matters into their own hands.

If you mean just these 2 items it never happens.

From an admin viewpoint they do occasionally suggest moving the thread, splitting the thread (off topic branch has occurred). That is appreciated.

But another pseudo mod thing that occurs is people answer people who seem unhappy for what ever reason and ask 'what's wrong'? That is also appreciated.

So far people generally PM me with their complaints instead of making them public.

Umm, well depending on what it is, I let it happen. Though I do NOT suggest it.

I call it back seat moderating, and no, I do not condone it.

If users have a problem they PM me, if it something to be worried about then I talk to the mod.

It depends on the DJ board we have a rule where the OP (original poster) can request the thread be closed. This can be because it's gotten out of hand or it's way off topic. Generally these are requested publically, right on the thread, then a mod comes behind them and says thread closed at OPs request.

If someone's calling out TOS violations because they were just warned or infracted and they're being smart asses about it I don't take too kindly to that. Normally I'll ignore it for a while if it becomes a habit I'll send them a PM asking them to stop if that doesn't work normally an infraction does.
