I've noticed this to be an impressive and unique forum software feature for the vBulletin. Do you find your members to enjoy this or does it tend to be an annoying thing when browsing profiles?

My post whore members seem to like it. Some are more creative than others though.

Aren't the members with a larger knowledge of HTML/hex codes the ones who seem to have a better grasp of designing custom profiles.

You should tell your users that they can enter in color words as well. It would broaden it up. Or at least let them know that if they click on the color swatch (square with the dotted line border) that they'll get a color palette to use.

Overall, I find it isn't used as often as it should be. If there was a style import mechanism, more people would use it.

That sounds like an interesting idea, considering I've been on several forums that allow this. I've always been a bit too lazy to mess around with it but it hasn't stopped others. It might prove to make users feel more involved if they can contribute something they know how to do that other people don't.

Personally, I think it's so confusing to configure; I wish it was easier. I rarely see the feature used by anybody else, too.

I have a thread where I post about new features and I made a few posts regarding how to customize the profiles. My users like to see images of how things are done at times. If they get a few pointers from me through the posts, then they are more willing to go explore it themselves. :)

If I ever took the time to look it over, I could probably figure it out.

My members haven't figured profile customization out yet, and I see no need to explain it to them :)

Only my VIP / Premium members can edit their profiles. The ones that are VIP members usually do edit their profiles.

But do you find it a worthwhile thing to pass the time with when you're bored or not doing something?

While this is a feature that I do not use often, it's something that members can have fun with (i.e. letting their creative juices flow). Hell, I may even use it to customize my profile here - it could use some spice. ;)

Nah, I don't bother customizing my profile. Except for my rank of administrator, you'd hardly know I wasn't a regular member.

We can customize our profiles on here? Interesting, I'll have to play around with it some tomorrow.

I do not user it so much and it hasn't been used on my forums much either. Some people are good in that and some have horrible profiles that you can't even look at.

I haven't looked into customizing profiles but ought to see what it's all about. It's an area I found that hardly gets used but has the potential to be usefull if the right people, and content, as well as additional features (with some taken out) and grow with the added benefit of actually being used more often.

Personally, I don't venture in this area very often other to add people who have invited me.

Yeah. Profile Customization is a standard feature in vBulletin.

Members can do this on my forum. Not many do though.

Whenever I customize my profile on a vB forum (I frequent two currently), I always just clean up the default theme more than anything, while mixing in some form of blue.
