Premium member and still see the ads...

I don't mean to be contentious, and I'm probably in the minority, but I would like to mention how I feel about ads.

I personally am not offended by ads on a site, regardless if I am a member or not, or if I've posted a couple times or a couple of thousand times. That is, unless ads are intrusive to the point where they interfere with a smooth transition around the site. An example of bad ad placement is where the text has keywords underlined and if you hover a pop up ad appears. Otherwise, if ads are used in a responsible fashion where they are seen but not an obstacle, then they are welcome.

Sites cost money to run and the owner is entitled to recoup or even profit from their hard work. There must be a fair exchange in any transaction, and a wise business man will always provide more value than he expects payment in return. That is the key to growth. In no way does the placement of ads overtake the value that such a forum as this one provides. The value is immense and the cost (ads) is small and appropriate.

A site owner has every right to show them, and I have every right to either ignore them or click on them, and I do both when there is reason to do so.
