Notify Mee performs a very simple but invaluable task: It sends you an email when a downed site you want to visit reappears on the internet. It follows a downed site and lets you know when it returns. It should be very useful next time your favorite weblog is unreachable or a link you really want to check out crashes under the weight of its popularity. It also outputs a tweet to notify other people that the site is down and when it goes back up.

I'd be very interested in knowing how this system works. ;)

Well it is not much to know you put the website adress in the right field and your email and click the Thank You button and then it checks the site you put in and see if its down or not if not then you get an error message and if its down it puts it in the database.
Then it checks again if the sites is up and if it is you get an email that notifies you, and delete your email and site from the database so you don't get spammed by emails.

Yes, but how does it know if the website is down or not - a special script of some sort?

Yes, I can't take the credit for it since its not me that have coded the base script I am just improving it. It also auto adds an tweet when someone submits an new site and when an site is up again.
