As I am sure you immediately noticed, we now have a new instant messaging system installed - just like exists on Facebook.

You can chat with other users who are online at the same time, as long as you are on each others' "Friends" list.

There really isn't much explaining to do, and it's relatively easy to figure out.

Usergroup permissions and the ability to disable the chat are coming soon.

Please share your thoughts here. :)

We hope you enjoy this as much as we do! ;)

    Known Issues:
'\' appears behind characters that need to be escaped (i.e. apostrophes) on incoming messages.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE/USE THE CHATBAR
Go to the Group Membership section of your UserCP: http://www.adminaddict.net/forum/profile.php?do=editusergroups
Choose the "Hide Chat Bar" group and click "Join Group"
    The chatbar should disappear. :)

Yes, as you can see, Nick likes to think things over thoroughly before actually official decisions...

Looks cool. Who are they kidding though with $79 for branding free for a $49 script? ...strange seems backwards lol!

I like it a lot though. And reading it you can customize the CSS file to anything you want. That is mint right there.

    Thanks for the link! :)

I've wanted this modification for so long now. I wish, however, that they had implemented "X Friends Online" and maybe include avatar display in place of what would be your default facebook picture. Looks great though. I'll be fiddling on with it here at AA and I may even make a purchase myself if I find it appealing enough.

    Another great addition :)

I'm finding it extremely annoying. Is there no way of hiding the whole chat bar? I prefer my browser to be full with zero obstacles interfering with my browsing experience. It's reminisce to popups except this is permanent.

This could also deter people from posting and focusing on the forum and seeing as you have built up an active community this could be a pre-cursor to members inactivity and focusing on the gimmicky chat.

My biggest gripe is I cannot hide it which is very intrusive to my browsing on this forum. Maybe I missed the option to hide it.

    I appreciate the honest feedback.

    Re: hiding it:
Tomorrow I'll see if I can stick a usergroup conditional somewhere. If so, I will create a publicly joinable usergroup that will have this disabled until the real option gets added.

    ...

And I will respond to your comments regarding the activity it my deter tomorrow. It's 4:15AM right now and I'm tired. :p

I haven't got a problem with it, i just don't want to be affected by it.

    Thankyou nick. Much appreciated. :)

I didn't at first...look at the foot of your browser. It actually looks like it's part of the browser itself, that's why I missed it. It's similar to what appears in Facebook.

Not something I'd ever use - I hate chatrooms - but I have no issue with it being there.

I have been looking for this feature for my forum. Looks great here, except that it doesn't go all the way on my screen, it cuts off.
