    eh, why?

I was having an argument with my friend today about how PC's where better then PS3's, the only thing he could think of is he didnt like the layout (keyboard layout, wasd)

I then said Metal Gear Solid Sucks (because he always plays it, it gets him mad when anyone says that) he then said PC's suck so i countered that saying 'a PC probably made MGS...' Which it probably did..

Crysis? I don't play PC games so I don't know but that's what most people seem to say.

Plus, I don't care about graphics so I guess that makes me very un-knowledgeable on this subject :D

Not every PC has the same level of graphics, and without having to spend a lot, you won't enjoy.

PS3[xbox 360 too] is better than PC gaming because even on a normal TV the graphics wouldn't lag, where in PC if you don't have a good one or build one yourself you wouldn't enjoy the game as much. Also, not everyone is good with the keyboard/mouse while playing a game, so again, without having to spend a couple of more bucks, you will have to be stuck with the keyboard and mouse.

    Console is my thing.

Yeah, consoles are my thing too. The only PC games I have ever really played are the old LucasArts point and click adventures :D

Hell no! Nothing can beat those games. I have a SNES, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, Nes, N64, and Atari, for older consoles.

I have to say that my favorite is N64 and Mischief Makers. I saw the emulator online and I tried to play, but I couldn't, it's not the same.

Yeah I don't like emulators, don't get the same feeling.

I think I'm going to have to get some adaptors and find some space so I can hook up all my consoles :p

A couple that come to mind are Left 4 Dead and Fortress Forever. The developers of Left 4 Dead created an atmosphere with their graphics, while the Fortress Forever Developers built some amazing looking levels.

There are a lot of other games that come to mind, such as Doom, Quake, Quake 4, Team Fortress Classic. A lot of it depends on what you mean by "graphics". Do you mean details, or do you mean using graphics to atmosphere? While Doom 3 had great graphics, it did a terrible job of creating a real atmosphere for the game. On the other hand, the graphics used in the original Doom are poor by todays standards, but do a great job of creating an atmosphere for the game.

    Fortress Forever

Not sure. I only play MMOs lately. They don't tend to be at the top of the curve when it comes to graphics because they rely on widespread adoption and monthly service fees.

Crysis has to be one of the most, if not the most intense game.

Crysis. It certainly is the best game ever made IMO. Nothing compares to it and I felt the same about Farcry before Crysis came out. I aint seen Crysis in max mode but what I can get on the medium settings is certainly pleasing :D

Max mode presses my machine to the limit. I can usually only play it for about 30 minutes before my machine will over heat and shut down.

    i7, 12GB ram, Win 7 64bit, 2x768MB Nvidia's in SLI

Its an amazing piece of work.

Still youre very lucky for being able to play it at max even for only half an hour.

To be honest medium pushes my machine :D Its fine on the lowest settings but I would rather have it jittery now and then than see the game at its worst.

Some games are geared for consoles and some are geared for PC. Bottomline...it becomes your preference as to which is better. Note that consoles over the last couple years though are now being able to update their games....however, most at an incremental cost to the user. Not the case for PC or very rare if at all. In terms of new content, updates, or patches, etc. PC hands down.

To the OP, David Henry asked a valid question regarding what you mean in your thread title. I'm going to assume like him that you are referring to what game requires the most resources to render each frame at highest/max settings.

Crysis by far has been the measure or benchmark for all games since it's release. The Crytek engine was designed for the use. However, my opinion, is the game is just eye candy. It does indeed look nice, however, from a game play pespective...that AI lack immensely relative to other comparable games and it has some noteworthy glitches that are just too prominent for a label that should be void of them. Again, my opinon on the game play perspective. Not saying its a bad game or don't get it.

I don't have any experience with GTA4. L4D is quite intensive and mostly it is taxing to a system b/c of the AI director in concert w/ the horde. I had a PC that actually shut down...

I think Red Faction Guerilla has some contention in there for resources.

@FMB -- :( for hating PC games. But I don't blame you for that pew pew controller. :p

@Tech, I was looking at your site...is it meant to be general gaming genre?

:P Can't beat the controller for me! Well, I'm waiting in anticipation for Starcraft II and Diablo III, which are the only PC games I play, and it's because I was bored one day and a friend forced me to play. I liked it a bit, but I normally lose when playing PC games. -__-

I hope the anticipation for SC2 is truly fulfilled, as I'm with you there. I lost interest in Diablo series.

fyi, there is no winning in PC games....ever. :P

    kudos

Most newer Windows games can be played with an XBOX-360 controller.
