    Just on MSN:

    Insert name here says:
    *Gr.
    *Well its your choice.
*This community will never be a great success though.
*It will just be a side walk next to the big community's.

What would do knowing your Moderator says this to you on msn? The "Well it is your choice" is because he asked me to wipe the forum DB and start again with him as a admin.

Wait, wait, wait a second. He wants you to wipe the DB and restart with him as an admin? Since you declined, he then said what you posted?

If so, it seems that he's willing to do/say whatever it takes so that he can get an administrative position. Why does he want it so bad? What's in it for him - the power?

If this is the case, I'd highly consider removing him from the moderator team. Such comments are unwarranted and shouldn't be tolerated. Moderators should be encouraging and helpful - not discouraging like that.

Wipe the database? Is he crazy? (Heck, is he your competitor in disguise?)

I feel like removing him, but some of the other staff feel he is a good member. I am stuck on what to do, Do I let my feeling slip and hope my staff were right, or remove him and hope the staff are not effective.

I would make sure he could only "soft delete" and didn't have power to make any serious changes. He sounds like bad news.

Ryan, how long has this moderator been a member of your community?

I'd try to reason with him. If he still seems to be power-hungry after doing so, I'd consider removing him from the team, regardless of what the community may or may not think of him (reputation-wise).

I'd ask him to reevaluate his role as a moderator and attempt to realize what exactly his duties and expectations as a moderator are.

That's not very long. Sounds like he really doesn't understand his purpose as a mod!
