Hey guys, I am pretty new to this forum, so bear with me as I gain a grasp on how you guys work and communicate.

This is a 2 part question:

    1)
Alright, I have a strange problem on one of my forums. I have a set of members that are called Founders. These members are the people that financially have set up the website and technically "run" the actual site itself.

Now I have a problem with one of the founders. I am the "Head Admin" of the forums, and I have personally been hired for the position by the head founder, but one of the subfounders has no idea how to use a forum. He constantly bashes other communities and members, curses more then a sailor, and whenever someone tells him that he is wrong, or paid to much for a service, he starts to blow steam and scare away members.

What can I do? He is technically my boss, but on the forums, I have many more permissions then he does. What would you all do to make this problem go away, or at least help settle the issue.

    2)
I have a very lazy and uncooperative founder for the site. He is the one that has all of the access to the vB members area to DL patches and updates. He will not download and upload the 3.8.4 .rar so that I can update the forums? It has been weeks since I asked him to do so.

How can I approach him and not come off as mean?

Thanks, sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Wait, so are founders the owners/actual administrators?

    I don't get that part.

No, only the head founder has admin powers, and he has very limited powers, as he also has no idea how to use a forum.

The member that I have the issue with has normal permissions, but he is a founder (Financially) of the site. I do not put money into the site like they do. They just pay me to run the site.

FMB, It sounds to me like the founders are the ones that set up and created the site, but have Administrators - like Gibbs - actually run and manage the site. I guess the Founders are like the investors in this case, and the Administrator is the CEO.

    1) I would just be frank with this founder. I would explain to him that it creates a bad image for the community when he comes off as volatile and hot-headed. You don't want to just make the problem "go away"; you want to treat the issue, not the symptom. So I think that by explaining to him what the repercussions of his actions are, he may understand and be willing to lay off a bit. Maybe even hint that he should leave the talking and member interactions to you.
    2) I would describe and explain to this person that it is vital to the site's well-being and success that it be updated frequently. Let him know that you will gladly accept the responsibility of keeping things up to date if it isn't feasible for him to do so himself. Be sure to stress that the community's well-being is a major concern of yours (and is very important), and everything needs to be done to maintain it.

=\ I really think they have it over their heads, if they want a site running smoothly they shouldn't be 'lazy' or attacking members.

1)Should really chill it if he wants to have a growing community and not give a 'bad' reputation to it. Yes, sometimes talking could solve the problem, but you will have to be strict since most of the time these kind of people do not stop at only 'talking', they MIGHT keep going or just go off on you cursing you out, you will have to put your foot down 'cause regardless of the situation the behavior this person is having might make members not want to login.

2)He should just give you the credentials if he's going to be lazy and not make sure their forums are secure and updated.

Make sure you let them know why you're approaching them since they might take it offensively, stress out the point that you're doing this[approaching them with their dilemmas] for the well-being of the community.

Thanks for the input. I have sent a PM to the flammer. I will see what he has to reply. I basically told him that he may run the company, but I am paid to keep the forum and community in the best condition that I can.

As for the other guy, I have tried numerous times for him to give me the info to login to the members area. All he says is "I'm working on getting you another account to login with" Thats all he ever tells me.

Give Him An Infraction For The Bad Things He Does.
    Infraction System Is Helpful.

I don't necessarily believe that issuing one of the founding members an infraction is such a good idea, so I wouldn't recommend doing so. ;)

I agree Chris, that is why that was not the first thing that I did. That could be detrimental to my only source of income at the moment.

Update: Here is the reply I got from the PM that I sent to the hotheaded founder:

Looks like I have solved that problem, although we will see how he acts in the future.

The other guy finally told me that he is moving from state to state at the moment and that is why he has not been on. He does not have secure access to the ftp and does not want to compromise security.

Now that makes sense, but I still need my patch!

-_- NOW he tells you? He trusts you to run the site, why not with such information?

I am not really sure. This guy is not making alot of sense to me. He somehow found my phone number (Which I do not give out) about 2 months ago, when I had never heard of the site before, then told me he was willing to pay me to fix it and run it and make it better.

tbph -- I am almost certain this site will fail without alot more work on his part. He is trying to do too much and without the correct connections. After a few days of Google Analitics, I have noticed that his World Wide site, attacts less visits and new vists than my State based site does. I actaully get over 40x a day what he gets in a day, and he has been up and running for a year, I only for 4 months.

    /end rant...
