Considering buying a .me domain? Are they good or bad as far as like SEO goes?
I mean I know .com is king but i want something a bit more...unique and fun.

    Thoughts?

I owned quite a few number of (dot)me domains. I think they are unique :) Some domain registrars provide (dot)me domain at the price of $9 for 1st year and renew at a more expensive price. But i think it's worth to get (dot)me domains. like you said, they are fun and unique. ;)

*for spam prevention, the system doesn't allow me to post "dot me" hence I replaced with (dot)me.

Difficult to say. Many consider them spam like many other foreign country domains. Unless they are clever and eye catching, not sure how much value they have.

May I know why many considered them as spam? Thanks :)

.me is a country. it's a gimmick. Most legitimate business have a .com or appropriate tld, e.g. .co.uk in the UK. Spammers will frequently buy up keywords in other TLDs and use them for purposes of SEO. When's the last time you saw a .me or .ws in search results and said "man, that looks good!"

For me, I think (dot)me is more of a personal domain since it's "me" :)

Icann will soon be whoring out numerous new TLDs. There is already the .name TLD and you saw how well that one went over, lol. Thankfully I registered my own name long ago. Felt like a weird ego thing but have the full set. Never put up anything personal though, lol.

I have a .me or two and a .in. Personally I use it like any other domain. If you build good content they will come. :)

I've tried these domains before, they were expensive, and not useful for the short term.

I bought it right after the landrush regsitration, it was expensive. Now it's just a measely 40 bucks for two years.

However, others are saying they've found these domains for cheap, so if you've found them for cheap, use them.
