I dont know how serious to take this thought. This is just a thought I was playing around with and thought I would share it with all of you. Its not really an opinion, just something to think about.

Maybe this is supposed to be a "yea right, ok,,, lololol" thread.

Maybe its an "oh crap, we need to think about this".

We all know that the people at internet brands/jelsoft are cracking the whip on the herd. Meaning, by handing out a few bans, they hope to stop people from speaking out.

If that does not work, will this be their next step?

BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | China looks to export censorship

Will the people at jelsoft / internet brands try to export their censorship to other sites?

Right now its just a thought, and I do not really know "what" to think about it.

In a nation founded on freedom of speech, I find what the people at jelsoft/internet brands disturbing, to say the least.

Everything from changing the license to banning people to selling a product (CMS) with no firm release date, no demo and no working product to show people,,, does not sit well.

well that is the way the world is. They want the luxury of living off past reputation and recieving all the positive comments but when the begin to perform suspect actions and are then in turn questioned about it they don't know what to do and free thinking and freedom pf speech even within limits broken down to a constructive stage is thrown out of the window.

Whilst it's okay for the company to lie, sell products to the last day of the new license that would in turn become useless they think people will sit back and suck it up. Fortunately the world doesn't work like this and unfortunately they are in the mindset of squashing peoples right to express their concerns.

It's okay for them to play the field but if questioned they run, turn a blind eye or post on third part sites such as this and wash their bullshit on unsuspecting members/customers who don't know any better.

I questioned an employee here who works for jelsoft because i saw right through his bullshit and was greeted with a nice pm "[****][****][****][****]ing bitch this" bitch that. Yes I know I am a bitch just not your bitch nor your [****][****][****][****]ing ex. My point, when it comes to pr and the situation turns to the worse they cannot handle the hard hitting questions which I feel the customers deserve to ask and get answered in a appropriate manner which doesn't lead to a ban from vbulletin.com and vbulletin.org.

It's a shame really, because the old jelsoft had respect, loyalty from it's customers and it's all destroyed in a matter of months. I wouldn't trust anything this company's tells it's customers or how they dress up there words here because when it's all said and done the people who know what innovation and have a business sense can see and cut right through the shit which unfortunately leaves nothing else worth reading from them.

Anyway, I'll end on a more serious note. I think I'm about to implode again under this stressful pressure I'm under.

It is a shame shelley and i totally agree with you. The old team would have handled this much differently. We have been through many changes over the years and never has it been this nasty. I have done everything i could think of to try to get my money back from ray morgan and steve machol, but no dice. All i can do now is find site's that now have a following of banned customers, and try to share my story with others. Hard to believe that the new owner of internet brand isn't concerned about what is going on within his company. Things could have been handled much differently too as to the leaked info, ray could have stated that the leaked info was just that, and that is the direction vbulletin is headed. I could have handled that better then all of the denials from ray, steve and wayne, and then when it came true (word for word), steve banned me forever.

Honestly I'm surprised they already haven't and its a lose-lose situation for those administrators, especially if their forum software is vBulletin.

They've revoked licenses in the past for no good reason, and if it wasn't for a public out cry, a digg article with over 1000 digs and the ton of bad publicity that came from it, I'd imagine it would continue to do so.

China isn't the first to do this, the AP has done it and other companies have sent frivolous DMCA notices to hosts based on similar circumstances. They base them off quotes people generally take from a source without permission

This thread's rather speculative. They haven't shown any indication that they want to try and censor third party sites. Plus, until recently Wayne was posting here answering criticism of the company, and Ray posted here at one point to explain the delays to the site upgrade last week..

Of course its speculative, I tried to make that very clear in the first paragraph. Its just an idea that I had and wanted to post it here.

I do not know how much clearer you wanted the post to be? Its just a thought, I'am just wondering about something. You dont ever wonder or think about things?
