    [WIP] MagicThemeParks Forum

    Guys and gals,

I've got a project that I wanted to launch using vBulletin. But, before I purchased the license and get things going, I wanted to have the theme / style chosen. Can anyone suggest a link where I could find a style which has that "Disney" feel?

I'm looking for a fixed-width style (although we can simply make a fluid into a fixed, right?) similar in style to AdminAddict :)

    Any suggestions?

    UPDATE AS OF POST 13:

So, I've been working for the last three days on getting the MagicThemeParks Forum up and running.

Magic Theme Parks will be a network of forums about Disney parks. This first one that I'm building is the forum dedicated to the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World resort. The site is sponsored by TourTheMagic.com and we'll have some opportunity for linking and selling ads in the very near future :):welcome:

So far, I've done a few things with the vBulletin-based forum.....

    • Installed vBulletin
    • Purchased pre-made skin
    • Set some 'normal' optimization/options/settings
    • Added ~10 Modifications
    • Customized layout a bit

....the modifications that I've added are....

    • NoSpam! for vBulletin (using standard image verification through vB with added question verification through NoSpam!)
    • Video-directory remixed (w/Video Directory Forum Home Mod)
    • PhotoPlog (instead of standard vB Albums)
    • Pro Postbit Legacy (w/custom user profile field added and code for 'frame' on avatars provided by Nick :) )
    • Sidebar Column (w/added field for global tag cloud mod)
    • vBBannerRotator (used as a rotating header with panoramic Magic Kingdom pics)
    • Automatic Thread Tagger
    • ReTweet Thread
    • Spider Display
    • New set of smilies (nothing fancy yet :) )

.....I've also customized the site layout just a tad so far....

    • Fixed width at 900px (IIRC)
    • Removed last post/thread columns
    • Added last post/thread information under forum name
    • Used images as status icons and removed status icon forum display

    .....now, I'm working on.....

    • Adding vB Database Backup mod
    • Adding vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator mod
    • Adding Welcome Headers
    • Adding additional custom user profile field w/some sort of image

.....and, I'm also working on getting.....

    • Customized logo
    • Customized banners
    • Customized avatars
    • Customized ranks
    • Customized buttons

.....whew....so far, so good. Not bad for working on it after getting home from work, getting my daughters fed and to bed and having a couple of hours per night available to work on it :D:D

Here's the link to what it looks like so far.... Forum Dedicated to the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort

Please let me know what you think so far. And, most importantly, please give me some suggestions as to what you would do to make it better. I won't do everything suggested, I'm sure. But, I LOVE to read what people think and how they would do things differently. Always sparks the imagination! :D:D

I'm afraid I don't know of any Disney themes out there, but I've sometimes thought you could add some princesses to some of sultantheme's themes and it would look nice. Or maybe there's a nice Disney Wordpress theme out there that you could convert?

I don't need one specifically already done up with Disney touches. Just one that kinda gives you that Disney feel. Colors and style.

That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you know you're no longer in your boring everyday world, but instead have stepped into a world of magic and wonder!

    You got it Sister! :D

Please let me know if you stumble across a style like that. Or, maybe some designer sites that may have a style like that.

I don't really like that redemption theme its the wrong color I think. I do not know anything else either except a custom one.

Arny, will this new site be about any characters/aspects of Disney in particular? If you don't mind letting the cat out of the bag, that is :)

Thanks for the other suggestions StaticAge. I think your first one is still the best from those though. Although, the last one has the right setup with the side bar and such which is cool.

Michelle, it's going to be based on the Magic Kingdom theme park. So, the theme park itself does have some regal-ness which that purple kinda fits with. And, orange is used throughout the park as well. Did you have any ideas?

Anyone else know where I can find some other themes like these?

Well, I purchased the style from Transverse (which has a buy one, get one free offer) that StaticAge suggested, "redemption". And, I got another style that I'll be using for another forum down the road as well. :)

So, I guess I'll use this as my W.I.P. thread as I set things up with the new forum :D

I made a PSD theme about this since you "inspired" me on it. It's based off from what I remember from the WD site for disney college program.

Some nice touches on there FMB. I especially like the search field (top right) and the user login piece the best. :)
