I still own a PC desktop at home. It was given to me brand new about six years ago. But I've used an Apple computer for the last few years with work. And I can bring it home most days and do some work from home. And hands down I prefer Macintosh computers to PC's.

I am not a "PC hater". But if given the choice I don't see how owning a PC over a Mac makes sense. It's cliche these days, but Macs really are "easier" and "smoother" and "just make sense (after couple of days )".

But do you prefer one over the other? Why? Or do/can you exist in both worlds?

    PC...

Can't stand OSX and switched to Windows when it came out. Now never going to give up my hardware freedom that Windows allows. I no longer have to rely on a store 70 miles away for support or service or worry about having to ship my machine to Apple and not have it for 4-6 weeks if something goes wrong. I also like the fact that if I spend $3000 on a PC, than I know that I have a monster supermachine. Not an entry level machine.

I stick with PC's and always will. 90% of Mac users are mostly sheep because "they think its cool" 8% are probably people who use it for work, and the last 2% are people who actually like it :D

But in all serious, I prefer to use a PC over a Mac for a number of reasons:

    • Cost. Mac costs tons more, and I can't install it on my self built PC's legally.
    • Hardware & peripheral support.
    • Easier and more well known to myself
    • Software freedom. Everything on the Apple feels like you're trapped in to me and have no other options.
Mac's are good machines, and I do appreciate them for that. However their costs, and the way they make me feel like I'm predominantly trapped in their software.

I've never understood bashing one side or the other. I prefer my mac. Period. I've used an apple computer ever since my Dad brought home an Apple back when I was, um... younger. :) I've used a PC for work and could easily figure out how to get it to do what I want, but if given a choice, I would (and have) get a mac.

Mac, I have a iMac and a MacBook. For Christmas I will be upgrading to a MacPro.

In my opinion, Macs are hassle free. They just work.
