I finally managed to snag the real .com I was after, so after 3 vBulletin licenses, I've broken down and jumped boat over to IPB to help launch a new hobby forum. I'm planning on converting a small Wordpress placeholder into the actual forum (just need to import 100 or so users) and see where things go from there.

So given that I'll be starting with a fresh install, anyone have any good tips or advice aside from the basics?

p.s. IP.Board + IP.Content for the meantime. See how it goes and maybe expand to the rest of the suite.

I'll just say ip content is awesome & really easy to work with.
    I wish you the best.

    I think you're lying to me :P

I like to think I can muddle through most things, but Content is an intimidating little add-on. Evidently I've been spoiled with how logically everything is setup and works on a vB forum + mods.

All I'm trying to do is prep the forum for a public launch and I can't even get IP.Content to give me a basic terms of use/privacy policy/legal page. Of course I'm a noob with it, but the documentation is "meh" at best. So far the best guide I've found was written by a customer called Dummies guide to Portal/Content. Trials and tribulations, fun times.

Edit: I finally managed to get my Terms of Use page up and running. Some of these IPB wrappers are awfully picky!

Well I may of cheated a little with ipcontent.
What I would do is find a nice free HTML style & modify for the forum.
Adding modules & making a "latest" post type block was really easy.
Also custom content blocks were the same way.
I haven't touched ipb in a year, so I don't remember the exact lingo.
