InvisionFree Vs Zetaboards

Which one would you choose, or would you just avoid them both? Please tell us all which one you would choose and why!

 

I vote for zetaboards, I would use it if I was still using free forum hosts, I like the themes and mods they have, and I have seen a great amount of forums do well on them and be successful.

 

This brings back memories when I'd host forums with them so long ago. I can't really recall the major differences except a cleaner UI for zeta. I really like both of them, but for a free solution, I'd get SMF.

 

I voted for zetaboards, I use to use them years ago.

 

Yea they are a good free forum host.

Isn't ZetaBoards more or less InvisionFree v2? Anyways, it's nice to see everything's their own code, hopefully...

 

I dont think they coded everything, I think its a heavily modified version of ipb 1.3 but I may be wrong.

 

I believe you are probably right, because if I remember correctly, IF users had the option to upgrade to ZB if they wished to.

It is probably 50/50 or something because I believe that IF is a heavily modded version of ipb1.3 like ipbfree was.

 

Yea IF is definitely a heavily modified version of IPB, but zetaboards if they did heavily modify ipb, they did a good job doing so.

 

All of my forums have been on one of these two.
And they will continue to be. I don't try and make money from forum adminning, it's just a hobby to me. So I see no reason for me to pay, personally. But, to each their own.

When Zetaboards first came out, I refused it. I hated it.
Now, I deny InvisionFree.
I guess the difference is that I actually gave Zetaboards a chance.

Zetaboards. IF has really been let go since ZB's release and ZB is a much improved version of IF anyways.

 

Yea, they dont really put their focus on IF, they are more dedicated with ZB.

 

probably because ZB is practically IF V2, therefore they've most likely stopped working on it

 

Exactly what happened. If it were me I'd just close IF, and just lets people using them to continue using it, just not anymore new people, and let it direct to ZB.

 

I use Zetaboards it is so easy even for a new be like me and they have so many great themes which are easy to install

 

I started on IF, but ZB since they are great.

 

I don't like ZetaBoards' URLs... s#.zetaboards.com/forumname - Looks terrible. Does InvisionFree use the same structure?

If you don't want to invest any money in your forum, I think you're best off getting a cz.cc domain and using a free web host like x10hosting. The thing about these hosts is you get no filesystem or DB access so once you outgrow them you'll have a hard time moving.

 

Their urls are very crappy, thats the only downside with them.
