internet connection help... mozzila

have no clue what is going wrong.. i have wireless hooked up and all to my laptop... but what is this error...

when i use mozzilla, i go to either facebook or myspace and it says this:

myspace AND facebook loads... but when i click log in it says:

(PS: paypal.com also gives me this message below....

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at my.screenname.aol.com.

ALSO.... WHEN I GO TO SQUIRREL MAIL OR CPANEL, IT DOES NOT HAVE THE POP UP LOG IN... IT USE TO... NOW IT JUST KEEPS THE LOADING THING.. YOU CLICK ONE IF YOUR BEHIND FIREWALL AND THE OTHER OPTION IF YOUR NOT..


internet explorer works fine...

any help with this is gladly appreciated!!!

Poor connection lol, i had the same problems. Contact your ISP.
Or clear all of your cache, and restart your computer.;

 

Scan your system for malware. You might have a proxy redirector installed, or some kind of spyware. The alexa tool bar can cause webpages not to load also.

Borrow someones computer and download malwarebytes from download.com - put it on a jump drive and use that to install it on your computer.

 

I had this problem with FireFox and it was what ultimately drove me away from ever using it again. Whenever I'd visit a site for the first time i'd always get a time out/can't establish connection error.

Switch to Chrome or Safari and problem solved.

 

I am willing to be that it was not firefox, instead, it was spyware like alexa that you had installed on your computer.

When you visit a website, alexa reports your activity back to a server. If the program can not connect to the server, the website your trying to visit is not displayed. So it looks like a connection problem with the site, when its "really" the spyware having problems.

january 1 - install the operating system and internet explorer
january 3 - install firefox

january 10 - alexa installed with some freeware program

january 21 - install opera

In the example listed above - internet explorer and firefox will not display the pages when alexa is having problems, but opera will work fine. That is because opera does not have the alexa spyware installed.

The problem is not firefox or internet explorer. The problem is spyware on your system. And its not limited to "spyware" - you can have proxy redirects, pop up scripts,,,, the list is a mile long.

when your having connection problems, one of the first things you want to look for is malware.

I get this problem too from time to time, combined with Firefox converting my link into jarfiles in my c:\\ directory? which I don't even know what they are.

Anyways, that is the reason why I don't use Firefox and I moved to Safari, and I don't have Alexa and I have no malware. My internet connection is not the best, but I have no problems with it in some other sites, why would it give me connection problem in others?

Unless it is a problem with the server and my ISP, which is what I have experienced before, then the problem IS the browser.

Florida, move to Safari, Opera or Chrome.

 

Go into your windows command line and type:

/ipconfig flushdns

If it doesn't work than you need to set your DNS (in network properties) to use OpenDNS. Go here: https://www.opendns.com/start/

After switching your DNS than flush the DNS cache again.

First Uninstall Firefox through “Add/Remove Programs”
delete the folder named “Firefox” from the folders “Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla in Windows XP”
Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
delete the registry entries
Launch the “Registry Editor”(Start–>Run–>Regedit) and search for all the entries containing the text Firefox or Mozilla and delete them.


p.s:if u're using vista delete
“\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Mozilla” and “\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\”

restart system and download the latest release candidate of firefox nd install it!!

 

Don't screw with windows registry if you aren't comfortable with it, or even if you are its dangerous to your systems stability. Windows registry is basically what powers a lot of your PC, if you manage to muff it up, its a real PITA to fix.

Just use the normal way to delete a program, and then use something like ccCleaner to clean out everything that is left over from it.

Reinstall.

If you have windows XP, this is built in with the remote desktop feature.

Another option is VNC.

If you have a home router, you will need to configure your firewall to direct the program to your computer. Its called port forwarding.

 

does anybody who knows what might be the problem, use team viewer to try and fix this?? i will pay!

Have you scanned for malware and spyware using Spybot Search and Destroy as well as Malwarebytes Anti Malware, also done a virus scan too? If that doesnt come up with anything try what Wayne suggested as well as a full uninstall of FF and reinstall. Also check your Windows hosts file to make sure its the default one as something could have possibly tampered with it.
