After you move, delete, edit or close (and anything else I missed) a thread or post, do you notify the user (via PM) or do you just add a note to the post, or add a reply to the thread?

I send a message to the user on PM telling them why and consequences if they do it again.

Usually I'll say "This thread really belongs here" or "this deserves to be it's own thread".

    not telling anyone ;)
    it depends.

if its a post or thread being deleted i will pm the user and tell them why (or warn/ban them depending on the offence and warning level)

if i need to edit a post i will put a note, like "edited for swearing" or something like that

if i move a thread i post a message on the thread saying "this thread has been moved to (name of section)"

if i lock a thread i post explaining why the thread has been locked.

if i split a thread i will leave a post in the new thread saying "this thread was split from (thread name), because it went off topic, feel free to carry on your conversation here"

if i merge two threads i will post saying "i have merged these two threads as we already have a thread on this subject"
