What would you all say about an IM forum? Ideas?

I personally think there isn't enough to it...

    Not much to talk about.

Maybe not, but there can be lots of discussion/debate about which is the best, etc.

    I disagree.

I personally wouldn't ever really say much more than "I prefer ___ because ____." (in one sentence).

Anybody who elaborates more than that probably has too much time on their hands.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm not sure what you mean by IM forum. Are you referring to something called Miranda IM?

    Instant Messaging.

Edit: I just googled, yeah, something like that, but he means the different platforms of it.

YIM, MSN[Windows Live now], AIM, etc.

Oh. He means a section about instant messengers/instant messenging. I thought he meant a unique type of message board software. Now I realize how silly I was for not noticing right away.

I don't think he means just a section; rather, an entire website/forum.

It could work but it would probably just be a spammers haven for getting his msn address out there and be hard to hold a good, lasting discussion on.

I don't see how it could work. What I would like to know is what would you talk about. There might be some topics but I doubt there is enough to keep the forum running for a good period of time.

By work I mean it would get posts but nothing more than email addresses being posted as that would be its main point.

There's plenty to talk about for any subject if you look hard enough and have the inspiration and motivation to do so.

IM Forums could consist of basic features for the abundance of clients available to styling and providing skins for the clients to small graphics such as smilies and icons. Future features you would like to see in the way of addons etc.

Basically, the possibility are truly endless. Most places will have developer applications to build upon and produce your own addons which you can then provide to the community on a free or commercial basis.

There are an abundance of IM Sites out there that provide these services and they seem to do very well. There's plenty of ideas you could implement in this niche.
