I noticed that he's been "banned"? What happened? It looked as though he was a pretty respected member, and had a lot of posts.

Banning is less severe than let's see "off with their heads!"

We all barely knew him. He was here in the span of what one month (he became a member in February and was banned in February) and he managed to "overload" the forums and make more post counts than some who've been here longer. I don't think a new person coming in and barraging in uber-posting is earning respect quicker. I think I said this in a past thread sometime it's not the quantity of post that makes the member it's the quality of the posts. I think some members take that to heart and find more sincere posts to their liking. Guess his posts weren't quality material.

Also think he was trying to hack the games in arcade because he hinted at hacking the games which he mentioned in the posts.

But what do I know, I didn't have the pleasure of banning someone and the admins have their reasons and the admins are our caretakers, tbsrk; they notice "all"!!!!!. In the plight of things that come through aliensoup I say "sobeit". He's gone, I didn't care much for him and his personal harrasment to me and I think by the lack of posts from others and admin in this thread they probably don't care much for him either.

Rumsfeld has been banned? I don't understand - I knew he had a flood of posts all of a sudden, but I knew he was pretty young and seemed to be very bright - maybe spent a bit too much time on his computer , but I need to know why he was banned. i never thought he harrassed anyone - who's next to be banned?

I'm not going to explain specifics.
Let's just say that he made it abundantly clear by his uncalled-for actions that he no longer wished to remain a member of Alien Soup, and we were more than happy to see that his wish be granted.

madge> As has been explained before, we don't take a cavalier attitude when it comes to banning someone. We don't believe in treating our members with undue disrespect, which I think helps to foster the communal feelings everyone has for one another here. However, we do utilize such punishment when it fits the offense, and I'll say with the utmost certainty that his actions warranted such. I can also say with the utmost certainty that he is no longer welcome in our forums, again based on his actions, and the ban will, in all likelihood, never be lifted. In any case, we're not going to get into mudslinging, certainly not after the fact.

If by "I need to know why he was banned", you're seeking an explanation to satisfy your curiosity on the situation, I can understand that, but as I said, we won't be getting into the specifics, especially in the public forums.
If by "I need to know why he was banned", you feel you're owed an explanation, I'm sorry you feel that way, but that's not a demand that's likely to be fulfilled.

Diesel is correct, this ban will never be lifted. He deserved it completely (and no, not because he posted a lot). If he pulled the nonsense he did here (much of which you did NOT see) on any site he'd be removed just as quickly.

OK guys - I respect your decision. I'm just curious. I certainly don't feel that I'm owed an explanation - sorry if I can across that way. I did at first think that he had a whole lot of posts, but I just thought he was young with way too much time on his hands. End of discussion. Thanks!

That's exactly why I put in the first part... "to satisfy your curiosity", which I figured was the case anyway. You didn't exactly come across as the ultimatum sort. ;)

Alien brought up a good point though... as with many of the other users who get themselves into trouble with their behavior, most users simply don't see it because the staff is on top of things, and manages to get it out of view before anyone gets offended by seeing it.

The reasons are valid, even if the general userbase doesn't always see the events that transpire.
Trust me on this one... if you knew what he'd done (repeatedly, I might add), you'd definitely agree with the punishment. ;)
