How would I set this up?

I am going to be running a competition on my forum, with a prize to the winner.
Thing is I have no idea how to best set it up.
I was thinking of having a top poster competition, with the top poster winning the prize.
Is there a way that I can search in the Admin CP how many posts xyz amount of people have had in xyz amount of time?
Is there a program that may be able to help me out with this competition?

Do you have any other suggestions as to how to set this up?

Thing that makes it a bit harder is the fact that I plan on 'turning off' a few of the general forums so that they don't count towards the competition if a member posts in there.

 

I would just do a manual search on for each user in each forum going back to a specified date/time then add them up by hand.

There are probably more elegant ways of doing that.

I think maybe I will get the members to post in a thread with their starting post count? And just turn off the forums that I dont want to count from adding to their post count.

 

theres a hack on vborg that you can do this with. Its call a top posters hack or sumthing....i had the same contest and it did the trick.

Just search on the org (when it comes back up) for it and install it.

edit: I just looked up the Top Posers in Month X mod, also by CYB. Never used that one, but the Advanced Forum Statistics looks a lot more versatile and flexible. I used it more for the back/admin end, whereas the Top Posters mod looks to be more for the front end display.
