Well some people on Pisoga keep asking me to be mods on the site, though I tell them we have enough [we have 4 mods]. How many moderators would you consider enough on a board with a 400+ member database? Hw many moderators do you have? Where they handpicked by you or did you use user vote as well?

It depends on the size and activity level of the board, to be honest. When it comes to choosing the moderation team, I've always hand-picked em' (by using a combination of both my personal "picks" and the recommendations given by the already existing staff team).

    :)

I would happily take another moderator or two. I am in desperate need of a super mod, but none of the existing mods seem ready for the rank yet... I think as long as the board is clean you have enough.

If you have to personally delete the spam yourself, you might not have enough moderators. (Or you might need better ones.)

This is an interesting point of view. If moderators do not delete the spam before you, you need new mods...or...?

On Setsou Design, you know how we do; 1 moderator per four thousand posts.

Being that you're redoing Pisoga, I would add one other moderator, a moderator and a super moderator.

Three moderators? And one super moderator, why?

There's nothing to moderate as of yet on Pisoga.

Are you planning ahead; so that once you get the influx you're anticipating, you won't have to go through the trouble of picking moderators?

Actually, on the old forum there slow but constant posting. We have spam and people who register with inappropriate names. The smod takes care of them while the others take care of the forum spam

I just meant that the mods are supposed to be there to handle spam and other problems, and leave you free to work on the forum itself. If you're so bogged down with spam then you either need more of them or more active ones.

What does smod stand for, FullMetalBabe?

I have 4 super mods and 6 regular mods. I really need to demote some of them.

Really depends of the size of your forum, on my current forum I have 2 mods and one smod.

Once they become inactive, slack off, show no interest for your site.

This is why I avoid promoting members to a standard "moderator" position - as soon as super moderators are added to the team, there's really no need for moderators on a per-forum basis.

Usually the moderators in my community are anime moderators or the chat moderators, only Smods and admins control the forum, but in this new forum, we will have the actual anime hosted on the forum, we could need some individual forum moderators, no?

Not being the owner of your forum, it is hard to help.

I think it depends on the activity of the forum and the amount of moderation you usually need to be done. Only someone that knows the forum well knows how many moderators are needed. For example, AA is fairly active, but we technically don't have any moderators at this time. We just don't need them. And equally active off-topic (or anime) board might need more than a webmaster or health forum, just because of the targeted audience and type of content you're focused on.

I like to keep my moderator to active member ratio on the lower side. For you, maybe 4-6 would be ideal right now, but like I said, I don't know the community well.

On the fist forum we have over 4,000 registered users, and we have more than 200 views a day, I also though that too, but =\ I see that some of the mods on Pisoga are stepping up, but some others are disappointing me.
