 Okay what are some good tips on growing a successful community? Seems nobody likes forums like the one i start up. Some good tips and stuff would be appreciated. We were thinking of a contest, but i don't think its working. Im just ready to give up and leave the computer scene for good, even at school. Its frustrating on how to attract members and such, nothing works at all. Seems everything i done is going to waste. Thanks for the tips and whatever you say.

What kind of forums do you have? What you do depends on what your niche is.
I feel for ya tho. My general chat forum isn't dying - it's dead. Nothing I've done works, so I know how you feel.

As mentioned, further information in regards to the community at hand would assist us in developing a solution for 'ya. ;)

Gamers forum (Sense you know who i am:uhh:) I tried a free psp contest. Nothing yet.

Thanks, hard to start an active community without members posting any threads and just playing in the arcade shouting and other things.

Being a gamers forum youre in one hell of a competitive niche, there are hundreds of them already well established and it is probably hard for you to be different. Maybe try something that truly interests you which youre very good at, maybe a localised forum where you can advertise it where you live and use word of mouth to advertise it, I dont know, but you need something youre 100% dedicated to and have a little knowledge in, you may know your games and be good at playing them etc but it is a very competitive niche, in fact I think it would be correct to say gaming forums are the most common forums out there other than general ones maybe :)

I only have a few friends that joined that live where i live. Theyre not active.
If i knew alot about something and started another forum about it, it would end up same as my first one.

With the niche youre in you will need to find something to offer that the others dont, it would certainly help. You need to target and advertise to gamers mainly so purchasing ads on gaming related sites could work for you, maybe post on theirs with signature links if youre allowed.

Don't necessarily assume that purchasing more advertising slots will guarantee an increased amount of activity. In this case, content is crucial. In order to attract members, providing content that can be considered as unique and "interesting" will assist greatly.

Ugh, gaming forums are so saturated is not even funny. You won't get users easily, specially on how saturated it is, either you get unique content or you get the content everyone else has. Make your own reviews on games, specially the new ones since they are the ones that people search the most or tap into the old games.

You got any extra cash to hand out free promotional games?

That is the only thing I can think of ATM.

Gaming and Technology is really all that interests me and so I just didn't bother making a forum on them, I do, but no use for me as I'll never be able to get users and anything with all the others around :(.

Try and find a more specialized gaming topic instead of general gaming.
