Have you been banned before? On someone else forum.

As an administrator, have you ever been banned before by another community?

I have been banned from one as one of the admins decided my old webmaster forum was competition, demoted me as a mod and then went on to ban me. I told them I didnt even want a signature link or to continue being a mod and only be a member and still they went on to ban me.

 

Not as far as I know of. I've probably been banned for no reason on one of those sites that apparently ban people randomly who browse as a guest, but I've never been banned from any site I had an account on.

 

I got banned from a competitors forum as soon as I signed up because they saw my email address and banned me straight away.

 

After being a long-term very active and dedicated member, I was banned just because I ran a competing forum. Like you, I never once mentioned this competing forum, let alone linked to it in any way. The owner of that competing forum is just insecure.

 

I have never been banned from another community, even from a competing forum (I find it rather interesting - I'm surprised that I haven't been). Granted, I have never done anything to warrant a ban... but it's amusing to me.

 

Maybe he doesn't know that you help manage the competing forum? :shrug:

 

Banned from RealMTG (3 times) after 2000+ constructive posts and a good run as global moderator for being the competition's leader and for "betraying" the admin, who liked to imagine I was his friend.

Banned from MTGSalvation for accidentally insulting a moderator who had died the week before. Seriously, how offensive can one sig banner that makes fun of me be?

Banned from MTGDarkness twic-oh wait, someone else's forum.

Banned from Final4Ever for suggesting that the administrator and owner wasn't god and could have done the layout a little less shittily (not in those words, obviously; it was constructive criticism!).

Banned from 4chan for... actually, I probably shouldn't mention that here. Don't wanna get v&.

Suspended multiple times from Gleemax for being an outright troll, just like everyone else there.

 

This is indeed possible. I (used to) post under a rather clever username... one that is rather unique. What's amusing is the fact that I'm a premium member on the forum at hand.

Go figure.

YES, a competing forum offered to join with me, as I said on another thread because they wanted to get free access to VB. I said no straight out and they banned me from their forum, that I hadnt actually touched for over half a year.

I also got banned from a friends forum lol but thats because I asked for my account to be deleted but she banned me so incase I wanted to come back then I didnt have to register again. Not sure that counts though lol.

 

Oh ya, by some Obama supporting Admin who didn't like people putting his hero down in the political section. I mean really, what is the point of a political section if you can't discuss politics :p

 

That doesn't surprise me at all.
It's amazing, we're in a "free country", yet we can't even speak freely. If your version of "the truth" doesn't match what most forum admins say it is, then you're banned.

Have I been banned? A few times, though I'm a bit more aggressive than most, and people tend to read what I'm saying as a personal attack, and, of course, mods tend to agree with them. This is, of course,why I tend to keep my own company for the most part

Forums are known for controversy and drama, some of the larger ones moreso. It's really hard not to get banned from those, especially in today's "PC" world, where anything you say can and will offend someone.

While that's a bit drastic, maybe you should learn from that and type properly.

loads and loads of times!!!

1. i joined our forums rival, admin even sent me the link and told me to join-but i was a decent member, but then i told them by pm that if they did want me as a member the admin had to stop talking badly about my forum in the shoutbox of their forum, and they promised to stop. next time i sent a pm to them telling them to stop it i got a warning and the exchange of pm's between us was posted on the forum, with after it I AM THE ADMIN AND I DO WHAT I WANT!!! and then the last time i said how in feel publically on the forum and got banned. it has now been 17 months, so i know i am not coming back.

2. i joined a forum owned by the mod of this forum, as just a regular member, made 10 posts, before the admin of the forum i first got banned from told the admin that i couldnt be a member of her forum and if she wanted to stay a mod on her forum she would have to ban me. another permanent ban. this ones been 6 months.

3. 5 day ban for getting into a bit of an argument with a forums global mod.

4. 15 minute ban because it was april fools day and the admin was playing a joke on me.

5. i didnt even get to join this time. i was lurking on the first forum, after changing my ip addy, wondering whether or not to join. instead i pressed forgot new password (for the admins account) so she had about 20 emails confirming her password sent to her. she added my ip to the ban list, and i tried to registed but it told me i had been banned.

I've apparently been banned on forums I haven't even joined, so something's a bit screwed up there.

I have been banned once.

From a clan that I co-founded. Reason was that I was using a separate forum, was a test one that was considered to be moved to, to place baseless criticism of me for record keeping. This was done in the event that it would actually be deleted at convenience.

I was effectively logging the charges against me. It was treated as negative bashing on the Admins.... No such words were or criticisms were done by myself or others. Yet, even my own family was discussed and slandered.

One thing about being online, in whatever capacity, we're online friends and that is it. This is exclusive of RL friends being online of course.

Oh well. You're either a resentful type person or a forgiving one regardless of the situations/context/etc. However, the funny part is....my banning of of almost 18 months...still has ripples with people.
