How do you deal with such situations? By groups ganging up on members, I am referring to multiple individuals personally attacking and/or flaming another member at the exact same time, hitting them with everything at once.

x.x This happens a lot on Pisoga since the difference of Anime like a person liking Pokémon and others thinking Pokemon is as lame as[enter here what you think it's very lame]. In most cases it doesn't go overboard, but when it does the moderators in Pisoga HAVE to put a stop to it by telling them to go on PM and such. Flaming is not allowed in most cases since some members just look for it, but flaming with no reason is a banable offense and so is harassing.

We have had many complaints regarding the way mod treats these kind of situation, but to be honest in some cases people LOVE drama.

Either way, flaming, harassing on a member is a ban. In the chat you can flag some one, it takes 3, and who ever gets flagged they are "banned" for 3 hours by default. I instantly ban those actions if done unfairly and they receive a permanent ban for abusing the user power they have been given.

Unfortunately this happens occasionally on every forum, and it's going on right now on mine. The fellow in question made the mistake of posting a thread in which he told everyone "you aren't a real artist if you do x", and many people who do just that took offense. We're trying to calm down the mob, but they do have a point... he shouldn't have made such a generalization.

X as in a variable, he listed a few things he took issue with, and then people took issue with being called "not a real artist".

I suppose I should have italicized that x.

Best of luck with this situation - it sounds horrible. Do you have any intentions of issuing infractions and/or bans (if the situation were to spiral out of control, that is)?

I've warned a few people and things have calmed down. The original poster sent me a PM apologizing for causing a ruckus, but hasn't posted publicly and I'm not sure he ever will again.

Was he an active poster? If not, it shouldn't be too much of a loss (... or is it?).

I would characterize him as fairly active, but new, and rather inexperienced. Not the type of person the others were willing to take criticism from.

Most of the time, the person deserves it. From my experience, its from someone posting negative about the military, or negative about police officers. And then the people with military experience slam the person. In those cases, I just let them go at it.

Kevin, is there a point at which you'll step in and put a halt to the flaming/bashing, or does it tend to stop naturally?
