    Hey guys,

    It seems the ads are affecting page load times today. On average I am seeing 10 second pauses between page loads. Has any progress been made for minimizing or eliminating the ads for premium members...? If no, how much do I have to pay to get rid of them? Just curious.

    Thanks for your time.

    I actually think it's Google Analytics that's causing the page-load delays, but I am not sure whatsoever. Regarding hiding ads for Premium Members - I'll actually take care of that right now. :D

    A moment ago, I did see a slow page load and in the bottom bar of my browser it was saying..."transferring data google analytics..."

    Yeah, I've seen that a lot, which is why I believe it is the issue and not AdSense.

    UPDATE: All Google AdSense advertisements have been hidden for Premium Members. If you are a Premium Member and see an AdSense ad, please do let me know. :)

    I see that on several forums, not so much on AA, but I believe it is an issue.

    Erm, this is probably not even important, but I seriously have a problem with loading this forum. I can't use Safari, if I do, it takes 2 minutes to load or more I am 'forced' to switch to Firefox who has ad and flash blocker and that loads quickly, although it still takes a bit. Compared to other pages, specially ones that have a LOT more traffic, AA is the slowest. My forum and my playground site have 30x more images than this site and they load faster. When I switch to Firefox, I get white pages almost all the times, I couldn't post a reply twice today because the page just returned white and I am starting to get the white page when I hit 'unread reply'. Every time is like I'm the only one that is going through this problem....so it gets me wondering.

    I've noticed really slow loading times for the DTO ad. Can you try using Firefox with all ads enabled, except the DTO ads (sidebar, header, within vBulletin sub-forum threads) and see if that allows for quick browsing?

    Well, I unblocked google analytics and such, blocked the DTO ad and the page loaded fine a couple of times (I refreshed a couple of time to see if it was one time luck). The times it loaded a bit slower where usually on the index and showthread I did notice that on the bottom bar(status bad from the browser) it said and got stuck for a bit at 'waiting for drivethroughonline.com', even though it was blocked and it also got a bit stuck on 'Waiting for google-analytics.com'.

    Yeah, those two seem to be the problems. More-so DTO in my opinion. Thank you for confirming.

    Analytics should be causing an issue, much. Simply because all of the page content and HTML is loaded before Analytics, since it's right above the ending </body> tag. So the Analytics code shouldn't be launching until all of the content and HTML is displayed.

    I just experienced this issue, and the source was definitely the AdSense ad at the bottom of the page. It took about 10 seconds to load it for me, then the footer of the page loaded.

    Also, Nick, is there any reason in particular you have Analytics in the source three times? This is what I get when I view the source of this page:

    HTML:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
    document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
    </script> <script type="text/javascript">
    try {
    var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-3362507-2");
    pageTracker._trackPageview();
    } catch(err) {}</script> <script type="text/javascript">
    var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
    document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
    </script> <script type="text/javascript">
    try {
    var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-8018693-2");
    pageTracker._trackPageview();
    } catch(err) {}</script> </div>  <div style="display:none">    </div> <div class="vbmenu_popup" id="linkbacktools_menu" style="display:none"> <table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1" border="0"> <tr> <td class="thead">Share<a name="goto_linkback"></a></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="vbmenu_option"><img class="inlineimg" src="http://www.adminaddict.net/forum/images/vbseo/linkback_url.gif" alt="LinkBack URL" /> <a href="http://www.adminaddict.net/forum/suggestions-feedback/google-ads-slowing-page-load-times-5293/" onclick="prompt('Use the following URL when referencing this thread from another forum or blog.','http://www.adminaddict.net/forum/suggestions-feedback/google-ads-slowing-page-load-times-5293/');return false;">LinkBack URL</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="vbmenu_option"><img class="inlineimg" src="http://www.adminaddict.net/forum/images/vbseo/linkback_about.gif" alt="About LinkBacks" /> <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.adminaddict.net/forum/misc.php?do=linkbacks">About LinkBacks</a></td> </tr> </table> </div>
    <script type="text/javascript"><!--
    window.google_analytics_uacct = "UA-8018693-2";
    var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
    document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
    //-->
    </script>
    <script type="text/javascript"><!--
    try {
    var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-8018693-2");
    pageTracker._trackPageview();
    } catch(err) {}
    //-->
    </script>

    It appears as if you're linking to two different accounts for one domain. This can't be right, can it?

    Nice catch, Ryan. I think it's in there three times because we used to use a different Analytics account to monitor the stats, but when we switched over, we must not have removed the first code. The second code is in their twice because 1) it's manually implemented and 2) vBSEO automatically adds the code. I just removed the manual instance, so it should only be in there once now.
