wierd...but then the complexity of how the brain works is pretty well known...and medical science is still discovering new things about it....

    That is so unbelievable. :(

What a shame. I've never had a flu shot in my life. And, this has sealed the deal for me.

I've never received a flu shot either, but I was planning to get the Swine Flu vaccine... What are your guys' opinions?

Disregarding this [allegedly "rare"] case, what are your thoughts on the Swine Flu shot?

Hundreds of millions of people get the flu vaccine every year. There is a risk with every disease and vaccines work by giving you the disease so your body fights against it and builds anti-bodies.

Something like is a rare occurrence and they can't even prove it was the vaccine, only suspect. Chances are you're going to be fine. It is still a personal choice. I am thinking about getting the regular flu vaccine simply because I hate being sick. Haven't thought about the Swine Flu vaccine because there are others more at risk than I am.

I don't intend to get the swine flu shot, or any flu shot, even tho I currently have the flu (was in the hospital from late Saturday til later morning, today).

I used to get a flu shot when I was a kid, my grandma made us get it. Made me sicker than any case of the flu ever did. When I got old enough to decide for myself, no way. I've been ok for 30 yrs and have had the flu exactly twice.

My boy isn't getting it either. There are already too many complications with autism and vaccines. There are in fact plenty of precautions one can take to keep from getting the flu.

That, I know. It's something to do with the preservative in the shot.

However, as far as I know, the live (attenuated) intranasal Swine Flu vaccine doesn't use the preservative (or any preservative for that matter) that is linked to Autism.

The ingredient in almost all vaccines is Mercury. We believe that this is what caused (if not caused, then contributed to it) my son's autism, via the MMR vaccine. He had an extremely bad reaction to the last MMR vaccine, and hasn't been the same since.

I've been told that you can request the flu shot without mercury. I'm just not ready to trust that yet.

(sorry I didn't mean to get off on a tangent about autism and the flu shot.)

All my brothers and myself get it. I stopped getting any kind of shots once I entered 10th grade, had to do that Hep B, Technsis, etc shots to get into high school though, but after that nope, nothing and I've been sick like once with the flu, never went to the hospital though except for my eye surgery lol.

I don't plan on getting either vaccines. I'm not high risk for swine flu, and I take great steps to combat getting regular flu such as constantly washing my hands, not touching my face, avoiding crowds, etc etc.

I rarely get sick, and usually when I do its gone within 48 hours.

I may get the regular flu vaccine, but I refuse to let someone stick their needle up my nose, so I won't be getting the swine flu vaccine.

I am in a higher risk group, tho. I'm diabetic, and my mom is a high school math teacher.

Cases like in this video really are rare, and you take that chance, but you are highly unlikely to have any reaction like this girl had.

Peggy, I'm sorry to hear about your boy. It really is sad when something that is supposed to protect you ends up making everything worse. :(

I am only thinking about it because I don't drive and even if I did my wife and I only own one car. I refuse to get sucked into commercialism but that is another story. Since I don't drive, if I go to Los Angeles it mean public transportation. Primarily Metrolink and Commuter buses. Doing so means that I have to trust everyone else on the trains and buses to be healthy as well. Since most people actually don't get sick days or if they do and use them can be at risk of being layed off, I can't trust them to stay home if they are ill. Recycled and Recirculated air increases your chances of catching a disease from someone else. This isn't a daily occurrence but I can see it becoming more frequent now.

The wife gets a flu shot every year and ends up with the flu. I shy away from needles and get the flu about once every 4-5 years. As for the swine flu, our son got the Type A flu which is associated with the Swine and by the time we could get him to the doctor he was back to his normal self. That was without medicine as well...the doctor's office was booked solid the first day our son was sick. The media has blown this Swine flu way out of control. If you set a side your emotions and review the facts, you will see the global numbers on the Swine flu doesn't come any where near the numbers of the regular flu here in the U.S. each year.

It's late October and everyone I know has had the Type A flu and all I have gotten was a Sinus infection which I'm blaming off on my wife's air fresheners:mad: So to each his own but you want see me getting a flu shot...even a Swine flu shot anytime soon.

I think this is a case where eyes in the back of her head would be of great benefit.

The swine-flu-outcome in Germany is a big deal in the media too. Although at first some severe complications and even fatalities caused by the swine-flu were reported and caused anxiety all around, there are now sudden deaths reported a short time after getting the vaccine, one person was healthy in sum, another person suffered from a weak heart before getting the shot. An anaphylactic shock is reported too as the consequence of the swine-flu-shot.

I read a wikipedia-article, that the recent "swine"-flu-virus doesn´t really deserve it´s name, cause the similarity to the original virus, which befalled swines, is not big.

The pharmaceutical company, which produces the vaccine for the German people by order of our government, mixes it up with effect-boosters to compensate the lack of original virus-material. Maybe it´s easier and/or cheaper to produce this kind of mix-up.

The ingredience, which causes the boost of effect, is the same, which was used in the Gulf War for American soldiers - this ingredience AFAIK is suspicious for causing several medical issues of the Gulf War veterans. As I read, in the USA currently only the pure vaccine without effect-boosters is used and that makes sense for me. Btw.: the German government ordered a special tranche of the good pure stuff for themselves and some other politicians of the first row.

So I´m more afraid of the byeffects of the swine-flu-vaccine than of the flu itself. The physicians here have totally different viewpoints - some are warning against the shots, the others are recommending it. This is highly puzzling.

The company, which produces the vaccine with effect-boosters, refuses to take juridical responsibility for any consequences after getting the shot. This is weird and I almost can´t believe, that they are entitled to state this.
