Everyone was right. I should just leave all this.

Everyone was right in saying I'd just quit it like I always do. Honestly, it was a good thing when I started it but I don't know what happened from there. I just ran out of things to post about, got no money to advertise with, I'm not social enough to spark conservations and a ton of other problems. Go ahead FMB, kick my ass as you said you would if I quit. I don't even wanna live no more. I'm refunding all, well, my two donators their money and I'm just leaving everything. I really don't know if I want to or if I should, but I don't believe it'll ever become big or nothing. Go ahead and say you told me so or whatever else it is or better yet, just kill me.

Are you talking about your IPBAdmin forum or something else? I'm confused. Either way, nothing to do with the internet is worth the feeling of not living anymore.

I think you're giving up 1) too early and 2) unnecessarily in regards to IPBAdmin. You are (and the site is) bound for success, and all it takes is some dedication. Don't give up, because it started off great, and can easily be made a success.

I'm disappointed to see you give up when the site clearly has major potential based off of what you have already built with it.

I know it has potential Nick, but I really don't have a clue where to take it. I've run out of stuff to post and all. I also can't advertise any right now because of money. I don't wanna just go repost other things out there. I don't know what to do.

Yo, why would you leave before your official launch date.

I personally see the site growing into something huge! Don't quit now.

You have a good thing going in a good niche.

The launch date was dependent on if I had the money to advertise here and some other places. With me not having any money at all for that, it's just, I don't know. And I'm going back to school now to.

Well, to be honest, advertising, while it may help, is not the deciding factor.

I have personally seen sites grow out of nothing based on one thing:
They have content that is not available anywhere else.

Meaning, if you have something that no one else has, they will come to you. Just for that. And once it starts, it just grows.

    Don't give up!

another one bites the dust..annnnd another one down..

    grow up man.

Its a hard world out there. If you quit this easy with a forum, whats gonna happen when your boss tells you to scrub the toliets? Or you have to work an extra hour or two?

Get ready man, life is gonna have its way with you.

Not everyone has the will or strength to keep things going sometimes.

Bryce, it's completely up to you. And, if you aren't going to be able to put in the work to keep the site going at this stage, then you won't be able to do it later without another admin or someone else to take up the slack.

Don't let anyone talk you into staying on board because it's going to be a disservice to your members and supporters on the site if you won't be able to follow through with your side of the bargain.

But, I would say that you have a great domain name and great niche and you should look into bringing on a partner or doing something to keep things going.

Everyone feels the same way about their forum(s) at one point or another. You have to decide for yourself if this is always how you'll feel about it, or if you think there's a potential for growth for the forum (& happiness for you).

Whether you stick with it or not, remember it isn't worth investing your entire sense of self-worth into your forum. If it's really stressing you out so badly that you're talking about not wanting to live, it's time to take a step back and reevaluate what's really bothering you.

@ArnyVee: I was just thinking about that. I'm good and all with the topic, but it's the conservation starting, etc that I have trouble with. I've also hit a brick wall with what to post on it without reposting stuff that's already been out there.

I was thinking this about my new forum (CoDMasters), Ive always wanted to start a gaming forum as I play games every day and its the main thing I do, I started with JetGaming (general gaming forum) and that failed for 1 year and i cant believe the amount of time i spent on it was wasted.

And now im actually thinking of shutting my Call of duty forum down..I mean its a CoD forum they already have codboards which is bigger and better and like you i have no money to advertising, I was stupid to even make a thread about buying vBseo even though i knew in the back of my mind i would never be able to spend £90+ on a "seo mod" when it could or could not work.

The only real forum/site which I like doing and has actually generated over $60+ in Premium membership and donations is Design247.

    ---

On the other hand you have a forum which from my knowledge there is no other one dedicated to IPB and it could really hit off, The hard part is sticking to it. But i wish you the best of luck.

I'm slowly getting back into it. I've made up my mind to keep at it no matter if it takes a long time. I'll get there soon I hope.

Keep that mentality. Things don't just happen overnight.

I find my inspiration comes from my passion for running websites. It's like my job, and I treat it as such. Regardless of the status of my website.

This includes my software as well. All I get out of coding for Imperial is free hosting on the VPS, nothing else. I don't get paid, and with the old version being virtually useless, I don't get much recognition either (though, I actually had nothing to do with the old version). Yet I still do it, because it's fun.

I'm not in it for fame, or money... nor am I in it for popularity amongst the interwebs. I'm in it for fun with the hope that, inevitably, it'll bring those things to me. :)

But for now, I'll just keep on truckin' as I have before. :D

I always say to myself, and my mods and even members. The moment a forum is annoying you for whatever reason, just click the big fat red x and walk away. Do something else until you get the gut feeling to go back and carry on. That's not quitting, that's ensuring you're only focused 100% on what your doing, and when you're not 100% you know you wont do your best so it's okay to walk away for a bit.

I'd not give up, or even say you've given up, until the fat lady sings. :)

it sounds to me like when you say "I've given up on the forum and everything" that you're just a bit down about it for the reasons you've given. Though just because you have no money for advertising it doesn't mean to say you can still gain traffic and loyal members. You've even had two donations!

I'd optimise it well (if it isn't already, I've not looked at it from an search engine point of view) and stick some adsense on it just to cover the running costs and license, at least. Then you can work on something else, or nothing at all, until you're prepared to deal with it.

You may find walking away for 2 week and coming back that you've had a bit of an influx in members, or even that a few of the members are now starting all the threads off, or somebody is interested in advertising with you.

I wouldn't have said you've quit yet though, I'd see this as a bit of a cry for help and you've had lots of attention to urge you to not quit here.

We're admins guys, we don't quit!

I think you should concentrate on school. You've said it is a challenge now, what is it going to be like when you're studying. My sentiments are similar to Arny, Nick, and Kneel.

Ha! I was going to suggest just that if he decided to give it up on the end. :D
