I'm on a cleaning binge on my forum, getting rid of old banned users and checking for spam visitor messages, spam links in sigs and the like. Some spammers have figured out that posting spam outright will get them deleted, so they've been posting visitor messages on inactive accounts. Short of visiting every member's profile page every week, is there any good mod or method that would help me look through these things?

Edit the spammer's profile in the AdminCP and "delete visitor messages posted by this user" from the drop-down menu. I do this as well as delete all PMs sent by the user anytime I ban a spammer.

I wish these steps were included on the "Delete as Spam" tool when deleting a thread/post.

Of course, but I'm asking about identifying them as spammers in the first place. It's easy to spot a spam message posted on the forum, but if they don't post to the forum how likely are you to look at their sig or the visitor messages they post?

I simply rely on members to report visitor messages and PMs. Afterall, it's their profile that's being spammed - not the public forum - and therefore, they are more likely to report it to have it removed.

Go to your usercp and go down to New Items and check them that way. That link should be in the ACP, I am quite sure it isnt.

Sounds like this could be a great mod to have for the admincp..."Latest Visitor Messages"

Anyone care to take this on? :)

I agree a display of them would be great.

I think such a mod is sorely needed.

All You Have To Do Is Check The Profile. Dont Need A Mod.
Or Just Ask For Help From Your Community. Make An Announcement.
If You Like To Post, Then It Would Be A Good Thing. Think So?

Sure you could check each profile, but if you have thousands of members that will take a very long time. And of course I'll be asking my staff to help, but it would be more efficient to have a list of recent visitor messages for easy perusal.

If they are posting on inactive accounts, then none of the members would see them most likely, making a mod like this necessary. :)

Maybe the members won't, but Google still will.

You can see all "New" visitor messages, social group messages, album pictures, album comments, etc... posted in a single list in your User CP using the moderation tools at the bottom of the page.

I think that should be in the admincp, it is damn hard to notice within the usercp :D

If it was in the Admin CP than moderators and Super Moderators wouldn't be able to see it. Also the Mod CP is deprecated in favor of inline moderation tools like this.

I understand but it should be placed somewhere other than within the usercp maybe within a drop down menu shown only to mods and admins within the navbar. I am sure a few other links would go in there that are handy too.
