DTO Thread Move - Free vB mod

I've always like to notify the site members when a thread is moved, but getting the staff to do the same can sometimes be a bit of chore. So why not automate the process.

We wrote this bit a few years back and have used it on all our own forums for a while now. Recently we took the time to clean it up some, add documentation and are going to release it as a freebie on vB.org sometime in the next week or so.

Drive Thru Online – Thread Move Notification

Overview
DTO Thread Move Notification is a free product that sends site members a PM when a thread is moved. When active thread notifications are sent in the following ways:

• If the thread is moved from a forum that the author can see to another that he/she can see the author will receive a notification.
• If the thread is moved from a forum that the author can see to another that he/she can not see, the moderator performing the move will receive a notification to contact the author and let them know that the thread was removed from the publicly visible forum.
• If the thread is moved from a forum that the author can not see to another that he/she can see the author will receive a notification.
• If the thread is moved from a forum that the author can see to another that he/she can see and a redirect is left in the previous forum the author will receive a notification that includes text to inform them a redirect was left and the duration the redirect will remain active.

Compatibility
·Fully compatible with vBulletin 3.6.8 through vBulletin 3.8.x
·PHP 5.X or later (compiled with GD support) and MySQL 5.X or later is required.

Installation & Configuration for vB 3.6.x through vb 3.8.x

• Prior to installation/upgrade we recommend that you perform a back up of your site's database and files.
• After unzipping the attached package open readme.html in your browser.
• Click on the “Documentation & installation instructions” to view the complete documentation for Thread Move Notification.

Moderation Auto PM seems like this but with wayy more options.

 

Thank you proving yet again that no good deed goes unpunished.

That product has not been updated since 25 Nov 2008 and is not proven in 3.8.x It suits the needs we have for it and thought it would be nice to share. If well received and if people offer us some constructive ideas of where they would like to see the product go, we will keep development going.

 

Nice looking plugin. Might have to install this one.

I wasn't stating i hate it. Just blurted that moderation auto pm has more options. Seems to work well when my posts attachments and such get moderated on another site.

 

No problem, I shouldn't post after a few beers anyway...

 

I'm just wondering if you have a forum, or what your forum URL is, I'd like to see the auto moderation working I haven't been able to get it to work

Thanks gnatster, I haven't had time to test it, but I looked at the code and it looked like it will be perfect.

 

Updated to 1.0.1 today.

Fixes:

• Removed cache_templates plugin as no templates were being delivered that required dynamic loading via plugin.
• Remove init_startup plugins as needed, phrasing is now loaded directly by thread move function.
• Resolved phrasing conflict with AddonChat plugin reported by customer.

 

1.0.2 - October 27, 2009

• Updated Thread Move help template to be XHTML compliant.
• Added additional check to insure that thread copy does not trigger thread move notification functions.

The DTO is vbulletin only correct?

 

For now, we, like many other developers are looking at which way the wind is blowing. Discussions about supporting IPB are underway.
