Description: Community for people with Asperger's Syndrome and Technology enthuists alike. Primary focus is on Asperger's though.

Other Info/Points of Interest: I am ready to launch the forum on the 1st of the next month, September. I just want someone to review it and let me know what they think of it and what I need to do to improve on it before I launch it. I'm working on getting some posts posted before the launch as well.

 

Everything looks great!

Only suggestion I have is adding a favicon and using more relevant user group badges.

The style isn't bad, but it isn't great either. I'd try to find a color to replace the purple tcat and theads

Other than that, its a pretty standardized forum. Try to spruce it up some, add some unique features and let us know when you do for more reviewing

 

Am I looking at the right theme...?

The one that is there now is pretty boring and I don't like it. The color scheme doesn't make sense and just looks like the default with some modifications here and there.

As BSMedia said, when you add more we'll review more in depth, for now you have these small pointers.

 

The blue/green theme? It's the vbSEO skin.

I'm going to add some more mods to it and try and spruce it up some. Any suggestions on the type of mods or any useful ones you recommend?

Network the hell out of it! Google for blogs related to your niche and make them aware of your forum, let them know it's a more open space to discuss and socialize ^_^

 

You can also join Facebook/MySpace groups, advertise your forum there, create a "Fan Page" for your forum on Facebook, etc.

You can also use Twitter. Search for "asperger" and follow the people who are "tweeting" about it. Hopefully they will follow you in return and catch your Twitter advertisements.

 

I'm going to do that Nick. I've been busy writing to some people in this area so yea. I got someone to allow me to advertise it at one of their meetings, so that's a plus.

 

Im not sure if anyones suggested this to you before but you could ask if you could put some leaflets in your local doctors. I am sure our local doctors has piles upon piles of leaflets on the front desk for people to pick up.

 

How many Aspies does your average doctor see though? It's not like makes you ill or is contagious. I think you'd have better results at your local electronics store, comic book store, science fiction convention, or other places geeks are known to congregate.

 

With it being a syndrome that was my best guess to a good place to have them at. If the syndromes associated with things like that then fair enough he should get em out there

 

You may get a nice stream of activity if you host a nice, grand opening contest. And continue having contests, to keep members coming. Start contests that encourage members to post, refer new users and stick with the forum.

 

Hey Bryce, maybe some background information on Asperger's Syndrome is in order here. I was about to link to the Wikipedia article on it, but thought perhaps you had a better information page in mind. Perhaps one that explained how Aspies are often fascinated with technology and have made many contributions to the field with their unique ability to focus on details?
