On your forum will you delete a members account if they request so?

On ours we tell them to simply log out and never come back.

No, I do not delete accounts.

However, lets say that the member is an author who shared some of his work his the community - then I would probably delete the account and the material that he owns. But that would be more for protecting someones property then anything else.

I have never deleted someone's account on request, and never will. They can ask easily for something they posted to be removed, which means the deletion of the post (or editing if it's the first post in a topic with 1 or more replies), but I never got the point of actually deleting a member's account. If I did so, it'd stop the three quarters of people supposedly leaving from returning the inevitable time later.

No, I do not. If a user had a serious privacy or identity concern, I would help them by concealing their identity (i.e. obscure name-change and deletion of any references to the name they want to privatize).

Moved to Member and Staff Management.

Yep, I'll delete it if asked. I can think of no reason why I wouldn't.

We have a "deleted" members group which basically moves them to inactive and they have different username color.

It's worth it to me for the less than 10 times it has happened because they want to have a big dramatic board suicide to just say "Oh, okay, BYEEEEEEEE" and let them leave.

I do not delete people who contact us and say, "I don't have time to read right now, please delete my account". Those I just ignore.

I only delete the ones who are making drama about it and NOT their posts.

I'll simply move the account(s) in question to an "inactive" usergroup. Depending on the circumstances, I may consider removing the account(s) entirely.

Depending on how they acted and their reasons for asking for deletion, I might lock their account. If there were privacy concerns I would change the name and/or help them edit posts they regret making, but it is unreasonable to expect an admin to remove everything.
