Considering Selling One Forum

I'm considering selling Astromech Factory

I've already upgraded it to the vB4 Suite, tho it's still running 3.8.

I'm just not as interested in running that forum, and I hardly ever visit there anymore other than to upgrade or add a feature.

I'll stay as a member, but I just don't have time to devote to it properly.

It uses the default skin (as decided upon by the membership), but I do have vBGallery, vBa Links, and Flash Chat.

It really takes care of itself most of the time. I have two moderators, but they hardly need to do anything usually.

Stats are low, but it was never meant to be a huge forum, just a friendly place for people interested in R2-D2 to visit.

Based on all that (and checking the site out for yourself (most forums are hidden, again, decided upon by the membership)), what might you think that I should try to get for it?

 

One could look at it like a little forum, or one could look at it as a forum with a great niche. I'm not sure which yours is because I don't even know what a astromech is.



If you have targeted ad revenue from suppliers, then that income could be substantial compared to the average google type ads. I'm not sure what your situation is.

 

That's the thing...I've never had ads on that site. I only had a donation drive once (through paid subscriptions), although I recently signed up for an affiliate account with Rockler Woodworking (yes, wood working) because of one part for R2 that nearly every replica uses.

Other than that, it's purely a hobby forum, and I doubt that I'd even sell it to someone that's not in the larger group already. I want whoever buys it to be dedicated to this hobby.

Oh, an astromech is the TYPE of droid(r) that R2-D2 from Star Wars is.

 

So it is a forum about a type of droid from a movie? I thought it may have been a 'battle bot' I saw on TV years ago.

If you are looking for a way to gently hand off the forum to someone, without a lot of $ involved, I'd pick an already active member of your community and approach them.

If there is no advertising/revenue stream, it would probably only be of interest to a true enthusiast, and priced accordingly.
