Do you celebrate your forum's anniversaries? If so, how do you do so?

Personally, I think this is always a fun thing to do. It's always nice to celebrate a forum's creation and/or history with a memberbase that's not only passionate about the subject at hand, but dedicated to making the community even better.

My members have celebrated their individual "forumiversaries", but I'd actually never thought about figuring out what the forum's anniversary really was. Is it the day you registered the domain? The day you installed the software? The day you made the first post? The day you got your first real member?

I've always considered it to be the day you first made a post. ;)

My forum anniversaries have always been my join date. And yes, we have always celebrated these days in the past (sometimes we'd note it was the 6 month without a whole thread). I'd never not do it as it is a pretty significant day in your forum's history. Especially when you look at your statistics then and now.

Absolutely I do. And if I forget (like I did last year), my members remind me (like they did last year on my designs site).

    That's member dedication, right there!

That's for sure, Peggy. ;) My members are/have always been the same way.

I should figure out the forum's anniversary and set up one of those dynamic announcements for the forumhome :)

We've only had one anniversary so far and we didn't really do anything. We kinda just call New Years our anniversary, because we started in February - which isn't too far from New Year.

Anyways, I'd just have a big contest, find a generous sponsor, and offer a really nice prize for the contest. You know, a way to "give back" to your members who have made your site a success? (What would it be without them? ;)) Don't make it a posting/referral contest... make it something fun. Depending on your niche, it can be some sort of creative contest, a story-writing contest, a photo contest, you-name-it! :)

Now that I think of it, I'm not sure when we could consider AA "1-year old".

Lol, it's almost really two years old, but at the same time it's only a month old. We can have two birthdays per year! :unhunh:

Edit: Come to think of it, those birthdays would be in December and May - almost exactly 6 months apart. Isn't this what we all wanted when we were kids? :D

On Pisoga we made a user reunion. We e-mailed all the users and spent a whole day on the chat. It was awesome.

Very! We have two birthdays per year, yet we are two years younger than we actually are. Figure that one out! :shifty:
