Ever since Internet Brands acquired vBulletin Solutions, it's reputation has gone nothing but downhill. Many vBulletin customers have since moved to IPB, and XenForo when it was released because of just how great it is, and not to mentioned Kier who was the lead developer of vBulletin and Mike who was also a vBulletin developer, are the guys now behind Xenforo.

Many people are disappointed with vBulletin, and its reputation has gone from being the best to now the worst, do you guys think vBulletin can ever recover?

Obviously what Jelsoft done was ruin its reputation by selling the software to a leading Internet Company worth Billions, know I will answer your thread, It can be recovered if they stop the 4.0 project and start on something new.

Jelsoft didnt ruin it, Internet Brands did.. after Jelsoft sold it, it was IB's job to keep everything going smoothly. A complete re-write would be nice but I dont think it will happen until vbulletin 5.0 which years away from now.

I believe they can, yes. The 3.x series was an amazing piece of software - they just dropped the ball with 4.x. The main thing they need to do is listen to the feedback coming from their clients and customers and blend it into the next major version (5.x).

I highly doubt they will fully recover until at least VB 5.x.x is released. If VB 5.x.x cuts it, then they may gain credibility back if people are willing to give them another chance

Yea, they really need to listen to what their customers have to say, that will be the best way they can recover.
