You all know the feeling, when you're having an issue with your software and need help. Which software did you find to be the fastest when it comes to timeliness, quality, and ability to resolve the issue? Also which one was the worst. (as in it took weeks for a response, etc)

I have only positive things to say about xenForo, and have had nothing but poor experiences with vBulletin. That may be why I suggest all my friends go the xen route, but either way, I have had a much better time with them as far as support.

I think its obvious that Vbulletin has the best support team. I mean they have the most experience and the biggest company. Now some would say the quality has dropped off, but I would include sites like vb.org as support since between the various sites and member support vbulletin pretty much has everythign covered, but thats my opinion

I think that vB has the best support team, I opened a support ticket and Wayne was really helpful wasn't expecting him to be so though.

I wish I could comment of who I think is the best, but I can't.

I can tell you who has the worst in my experience so far: SMF

I had a major problem last night which resulted in my forums going down, possibly as a result of an attempted hack. There are official support members on staff there who absolutely contributed nothing to helping resolve the problem, other than to post very short replies, that made little to know sense.

Eventually a fairly junior member there came by and did their best to help me. Between that person, and some helpful souls on another site I was able to recover my site with no damage done.

Sorry for the long post, I'm still PO'd about their supposedly helpful support team. If anyone wants I can point you top the thread so you can see for yourself.

I was happy with IPB client support, not so much the support forums, but direct support was quick.

I'd say the support staff at MyBB work pretty hard, and respond quickly.

This is a subset of forum software but when vbseo first came out and for the first 2 years their support was outstanding.
It seems they've lost something though the last couple few years, it wasn't fun to even be on the pre-release team anymore. I shortly moved away from vBulletin after that so I'm not sure if things have gotten better over there.

When I was with IPB, within a few hours upon opening a ticket, the support staff fixed my problem for me and explained what happened so if I screw up again, I'll know how to fix it. I never really got much fixed with vBulletin in comparison, usually a "try this, try that," which doesn't always work.

XenForo's support isn't bad. The community is sometimes hit and miss but Mike addressed my ticket issue the one time I sent it.
