I wonder what the right will say and what the left would.

And the government is funding it. That's the best part.

"It paves the way for a cure for infertility and could help those left sterile by cancer treatment to have children who are biologically their own.

In this case I'm all for this.

I don't have the "moral" objections that so many people seem to have.

I didn't read the article, but if it's for that, it's not bad.

\o.o/ Nothing can replace the way of making children for many centuries though!

I had friends that went through a tough time of trying. Did all that you could think of medically, invitro, drugs, etc. You name it...everyone has their situation. When you have the desire to have your own family, unflinchingly, you can't imagine the pain. NO matter of cost will stop looking for a way. Mortgaged their home, loans, etc. Just the reality of this out there for quite a few people.

I'm sure people posting didn't mean any disrepect, but in truth, if this methods purpose is solely for what was described, then I support it for the example mentioned. Sure some might say go adopt, or do surrogate, etc., but again everyone has their own situation (not to mention inherent beliefs) on this subject.

My objection would come from what potentially could be spun from this new innovation and the potential for abuse. Stem cells is not a controversial topic....yo.

Who am I to say infertile or gay couples shouldn't have biological offspring? I just worry about all the unwanted children already languishing in foster homes and hospitals. Maybe people should have a couple of biological children and then adopt.

Yes, there are far too many children in foster homes that desperately need a family to adopt them. The biggest problem is that most people want that "new baby smell" and refuse to adopt children that are over 5 years old.

The problem is especially bad when orphans are over 10 years old, which is so sad.

Many of the older orphans have developed behavior problems which makes it even worse. :(

I have no desire whatsoever to have any children, but if I did, adoption would be the way to go for us. And if we did, it would be an "older" child.

That said, those that NEED biological children when they can't have them the good old fashion way, this new discovery seems that it would be good for those couples (or even single mothers or fathers (minus Octo-Mom)).
