Just wondering if anyone here knows any body that has had or currently has the swine flu. I'm talking confirmed case, not some self diagnosed ones

What would you like to know? To answer your question, I have spoke with people who have been laboratory confirmed as having swine flu.

Mainly just if its as bad as the media is playing it out to be, or is it like every other flu with the fever, diarrhea and vomiting?

As of last month we're still about 34,700 deaths short of the swine coming close to our annual flu season death rates. Infection wise, it's was 160,000 world wide which is still short of the infection rate here in the U.S. from our annual flu.

From what I heard, it's about like annual flu, but has less then a 1% fatality rate.

One mother I spoke with, her 11 year old son caught it at a church camp a couple of months ago. In 5 - 7 days everything was fine.

Another lady I spoke with, she has cancer, and even with her weak immune system she was fine in 5 - 7 days.

These were laboratory confirmed cases of H1N1.

Two people; one 4 year old who had a mild case and was fine after a few days, one 23 year ago who was pretty miserable but not in danger.

Another friend but I dont know much about her case apart from that it was confirmed and she stayed isolated at home.

Does three Sinus Infections in 9 months equal the Swine Flu? I'm so sick of this crud it's not even funny. Then today our son's doctor informs us our 7r old son has pneumonia awww.adminaddict.net_data_MetaMirrorCache_a2eea58c4b372d68e495c63cd776dbf2.gif It's not real bad but it's still got us worry sick.

I've had a cold for the past few weeks, i dont think its Swine Flu lol.
Swine Flu would be that heavy stuff, ugly coughing, and headaches,
    look at the symptoms.

Ya, I'm pretty sure it's not the swine but it's on my nerves. I rarely get sick and NEVER 3 times in one year. Seriously, the first time around I had to refill out the papers at the doctors office. They said the last time they saw me was 2004. I figured it was some once every election thing...I guess I'm having a harder than normal time dealing with our this president than the last one :p

We just had an 11 yr old die from it here. My sister and I had it back when they actually gave it to you to build your immunity. Those flu shots sure did use to make you sick.

Some people still do get horribly sick from the flu vaccines.

A lot of it is media hype. However, we have seen an increase in the number of influenza cases this year. The H1N1 is well tolerated by most adults. Those 24 years of age and younger are urged to get the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available, as well as patients with compromised immune symptoms.

The seasonal influenza shot is recommended in addition to the H1N1 vaccine. FYI: the flu shot does not "cause" the flu, as some believe. ;) However, there still are cases of vaccine-induced illness.

Seasonal flu is not usually associated with diarrhea or vomiting. A high fever is a very good way to differentiate between the flu and a common cold.
